What do we think chaps?

I love them. 25 RHD in UK so should keep prices keen.

Mixed reports on box though.

If I was going to move the Cesil on, I suspect it would either be one of those or a 996 GT2

Two better replacements one could not pick.

Great taste Leins

This is the one to have, it's got the appropriate seats and in a cracking colour. Only 25 gives real exclusivity, this is a future classic.

C63 BS better.

Couple of my friends have this and to be honest I'd not consider one.

Thanks Chris, but pity that either would take considerable investment to move into. Just goes to show how undervalued the CSL still is IMO

How come Digi? Not driven one, but I got the impression these were a proper animal of a car. Please don't tell me they're a bit dull! :(

They're far from dull.

I have been looking myself, but I'm too poor for one.

I quite like those SL Blacks too, but if we're upping the ante then I'll have one of these instead please

This thread is timely; I am setting up to look at a C63 Black, but hadn't considered the CLK. It's £20k cheaper and rarer too. Although they'd undoubtedly be better on track, those seats in the CLK look a bit cheap, though, in the context of the rest of the car.

I suspect that the noise alone is enough to make all other considerations irrelevant when considering whether to buy. I disagree with Shim, though. The problem with any of these fast Mercs is that there is always the whiff of a taxi about them

Today I'm looking at a Gen 1 997 GT3 and then a Gen 2, as a back-to-back comparison. Price differential is £30k, so I would be surprised if the Gen 2 wins out (and £90k is at the top of what I can afford), but I will report back.

All this is my roundabout way of saying that my CSL will shortly be up for sale..

PS: Agree with Leins. That photo reminds me of this piece of hilarity:

As a lawyer working in the music industry, I cannot condone the activities of Kim Dotcom, but I confess that this video (that apparently he funded) never fails to make me smile.

Not seen that before :hahaha: I recognise that "Dotcom" lad from a Ruby Wax documentary on the Gumball from the early 2000s, where he crashed his Brabus at the end

Nice position to be in Gregor, best of luck and let us know how you get on

there are many ifs......convincing wifey, right car and numbers working out but I am targeting this as my next purchase in first 6m of next year as stablemate to Csl. Struggling with alternatives.

My only concern is it might be too much like Csl....i.e I don't have another daily.

Porsche prices gave gone mad and are out for me but I do think this is a sleeper (in terms of being overlooked and holding value).

Nice find Gregor! Not seen that one although it was a little :gayfight: and I just love coming across unseen footage of the CLK DTM. There really isn't much of it out there.

I couldn't stay quiet on this thread without mentioning the CLK DTM is quite possibly my all time favourite car over almost everything out there past & present. So much respect for it and I know its not to everyone's taste but I think that's what makes it all the more attractive where it has some ball taking arches and overall stance which was touched by Mercedes best race engineers.

With their limited production of only 80 cabs and 100 coupes it reminds me of the CSL in many ways. One of which they are a blue chip investment and have always said the CLK DTM is going to be like its older brother in years to come - the CLK GTR, which are now priced around £1 millions.

It cost Mercedes €600,000 per unit to build of which €200,000 was lost on each car sold as they sold for around €400,000 each.

CLK DTMs can be picked up for as little as £100,000 ATM and you can expect a massive return in the next coming years, similar to the F40.
I know someone who bought an F40 15 years ago for around £125,000. Now he's considering selling after recently getting tickled to sell for £800,000!!

The CSL may take a little longer to get to that Level but it's going the right way. I have promised myself that one day I will get on the CLK DTM wagon before it's too late.
There are not many investments out there that allow you to enjoy it at the same time!
