Hi guys
The paint on my wheels is starting to wear off (common problem I understand on the CSL alloys!) in certain places and so I thinking about the possibility of having the wheels refurbished.
I would be looking to get these done in the standard colour, but am slightly concerned that the finish and/or colour will not be the same as the original.

Has anyone had any experience of having there alloys refurbed/powdercoated?

Your help would be appreciated....

Cheers for that Mark, I'm in Glasgow so Edinburgh is not an issue, would rather travel a bit to get the job done properly. I will give Robert a buzz and see what says.
Out of interest have you had some of your wheels refurbed by him?

Andy, where are you getting your wheels done? I've just removed the tyres from my spare wheels and they are look like they could do with a make over. I'm possibly thinking a change of colour for them as well.

Autoart in Lydney...just around the corner from Simpsons. He has carried out work for Simpsons in the past when hes worked for a Company called C&R then branch out on his own 14 months ago.

He is having the car Saturday and I'll get it back Sunday...I'll let you know what I think and post some pics, but he has a good reputation.

If you do contact him mention me and you may get a better price.

fergusgo,

I had mine done by a boy in Stirling. Initially I thought it was sh1t hot but the 1st time I took the wheels off to clean them, I could not remove the dirt from the inside on the rim. I could also see the guys finger prints where he'd been lifting them etc. Turned out, he'd baked the wheel after painting but never bothered to clean the inside before baking :moan:

And then, after a trackday last year, the wheels became so hot that the paint started blistering from the only wheel that I know has been refurbed and has now flaked off a wee bit. I think I might be looking for someone decent too soon.

Just a few things to be wary off,
Baz

Thanks for the above guys.
Finally had my wheels refurbed by Stuart (i think??) from alloymaster as you suggested Mark, and really pleased with the job, would highly recomend them also.

They guy came travelled from Edinburgh to my home in Glasgow, did did the 4 wheels (took about 6hrs) and all for a very reasonable £200 cash.

He did not need the tyre off just broke the bead and put it back up after it dryed
so no tyre machine to mark it
