I'd appreciate your views on the importance of having the running in service performed on time. I've viewed a few CSLs in recent months and mileage at the running in service varies tremendously.

Would BMW offer their warranty on a vehicle which had exceeded 1,200 miles at its first service? If so, I assume this may also adversely impact the value of the vehicle.

I'd welcome your views...
Thanks

If the car is selling through BMW you'll get 12 months auc warranty from the dealer so no problems. Renew your warranty 12 months hence on direct debit and hey presto...infinite piece of mind.

Buying private requires a little more research. I've owned 3 cesils..... running in service mileages 1100,1200 and 1350 miles. Better safe than sorry. If you want warranty stick to cars under 1500 miles.

With most csl's now eclipsing their 10th birthday warranty doesn't seem to be as vital as once was. There are veteran owners on this forum who have had several years of unwarranted, trouble free reliability.

It really is all about buying the right example.

My running in service was carried out a little over the 1200 mile mark and I've had no problems having all kinds of warranty work carried out, including a new Vanos unit.

My car is going in soon to get a PDC problem sorted under warranty, so my warranty is still working for me... to a certain extent.

I've seen a letter from BMW confirming up to 1700 is ok. Where did you hear 1500?
Cheers

They will cover the car its only engine damage that’s a bit tricky after 2000 miles

The car had a special running in oil that needed to be changed at 1200

I am 99.9% sure the limit is 2000.

I stand corrected. I was just going by my previous car's BMW SH and keeping south of 1500 miles will guarantee happiness......sorry 1700 miles!!

What is the mileage range BMW recommended or the running in service?

Mine will need one soon

Mark, do you anything to back up the special running in oil? It was just that I was reading yesterday that this was not true. Was going to ask Giraffe.

More of a myth than the cardboard floor! ;)

They had good old regular TWS 10w60 in from the factory.
