View Full Version : Clutch Slip?

Help please!

Under full throttle S5 shifts, I've noticed the car seems to die briefly just after shifting gear before coming back strong . . . I'd liken it to the traction control kicking in, but the roads dry, no dash triangle and have supersports on with 6mm+ tread.

Is this the dreaded clutch slip or something else?

It's due a service (Inspection).

Yo Ben, Gareth has breathed his magic on it previously, but this time it will be Darren Woods in Stockport. Excellant rep all over net and great to deal with - they put on my Alcons. I think Mr Woods is an ex-CSL owner too, that could be nonsense - my memory is very hit and miss :)

Cheers Gareth. It's RobMugs ex-car, i think you did head gasket on it last year amongst other things.

I haven't mentioned it to DW yet, just trying to find out what it is. There was a couple of isolated misfires a week or so back after a thrashing at Millbrook but nothing since. I'll pull codes when I get around to it.

Hope new job works out by the way - I'm sure your rep will give Bartlett a big shove in the right direction.

Thanks mate , jobs goin good so far , it's good in the fact I can pull stuff apart to try and fix parts rather than just replacing them something I havnt been able to do working for a main dealer . You no where I am if needed .

Thanks. and good news you're settling in. I'm really good at the pulling apart bit - it's the next bit I struggle with, this putting things back together business.

I've noticed this on a full throttle 2nd-3rd upshift, seemed like TCS to me. I've since started driving DSC off and it doesn't do it any more. I guess the tune is just a little tight for the 2nd-3rd upshift. It's more repeatable in a slight corner I find too. A little tip from my line of work is always repeat the manoeuvre with DSC off if you suspect it might be.

Weird that nobody else has found it thought I suppose?

Let me know if you find out any more.
