Well, our experience of Audi ownership in the form of an A4 Avant Quattro has come to an end thankfully! The Audi has been the single most frustrating and worst car I/we have ever owned with atrocious reliability and terrible dealership experience to boot.

We are now an all BMW family with the addition of our latest family car: a 2010 BMW X5 40d M-Sport - with 7 seats for our kids to squeeze into.

So far we are very impressed with it - very comfortable and secure to drive and quick too! MPG isn't great at around 26 MPG average, but then it's used on short runs and is a heavy car after all!

Anyway, here's a few photos - it's a tad bigger than the E46!

:)

Rob, how does the X5 stand up as a 7 seater. We are used to the Smax which has easy access and 7 adult seats and not having tried the X5 not sure if to include it on our Smax replacement list

We love it mate. The middle bench seat is quite wide like a 5 Series but it also slides fore/aft to adjust leg room. Our eldest (7) actually prefers being in the rear two seats and there is plenty of room for him so long as the middle bench is not set all the way back.

We find it makes journeys much less of a stressful event now as they all have their own space in the back and do not squabble like before when they were squeezed 3 abreast in the back of the Audi.

We didn't 'need' the 40d but I insisted

Nice one dude

x6 35d has been a proper good all rounder nearly 100k miles as you know Clare was a road warrior till she had Chloe, and it's eaten up the miles well, and great a long distance euro tourer.

Good choice you'll love it mate.

 I just bought one myself recently as a daily driver ... loving the twin turbo inline 6 diesel. Amazing how well these drive and how unlike an SUV it feels.
