Hi,
I'm very pleased to be joining the forum with my new, not very shiny, CSL.
Apologies for the terrible pictures. More to follow as I have chance to get it sorted and cleaned.
I got the car on Sunday and have managed to sneak about 40 miles over the busy Easter weekend. What a car, it really is quite exciting...
Edit - Thanks Chris. Pictures in place hopefully.

Hi Pete, pics not working. Go to the little paper clip and just attach them, its the easiest way.
Congrats on the purchase

Welcome to the board mate, this is a CSL we've never seen before. I think.
Be sure to let 'Shimmy' know, he keeps a good track of all things CSL.

A few more details as requested..The car is standard, has 60k on it and appears to be in good original condition. It does have a fairly iffy aftermarket radio which I'll return to original (assume these are standard E46 units?) and is on nearly new Michelin super sports.
I went out for an hour or so last night and just love it. It's a long time since I've had properly itchy feet just to go for a drive and find myself looking for acceptable wife passable excuses to head out.
The sound is instantly compelling, but it's the overall package which really appeals. The low slung and fixed seating plus the slightly rumbly and recalcitrant attitude when it's cold and at slow speeds makes me feel like I'm in a racing car and what could be better than that!
I would like to show it some love and think it needs a bit of time with a detailer to sort out a few interior scuffs and have it looking it's best. The wheels also need doing.
Any views on sensible first steps to take with my new ownership? Should I keep the wheels the standard colour when refurbing - I've seen a few with a slightly darker shade which does seem to pick out the carbon bits nicely?
I do need to buy a front 'Grid' part number '51112694724'. Any suggestions on best place to sort parts would be appreciated.

Hi, the wheel centres start to look shabby with age I would change them if needed when doing the wheels. I did, also the bonnet badge needed changed the lettering was going a bit white.

The stereo (being a single DIN item) is not the same as the double DIN standard E46 M3 item....

True, but it is the same unit as all other E46s without SatNav.
SatNav wasn't standard on the E46 M3, even though a lot were spec'd with it.

Or you could upgrade to the optional MiniDisc player :supz:

Hello Peter and Welcome to the gang. Yes that's the one, as per OEM fitment:thumbs:
Wheels stick with Original Colour finish which is paint.
If you go for a powder coating refurb, you wont get the same colour, as they usually apply a black first/undercoat. :bigcry:

Yep, that's the one fitted to my CSL.
You might as well buy an Aux to 3.5mm jack cable, and fit that at the same time too...

There are a few that all look the same but have slightly different internals. To do what, I don't know but to me that looks like the right job. OEM rocks.
I managed to grab an OEM cassette player for my 1999 Z3M the other week at the breakers, I never listen to CD's anyway will prob just get a Parrot fitted and listen through the iPhone. It'll look retro though, lol

Welcome back sailor-boy, it's been quite without you. You'd need a retro Parrot though to keep it 'Old Skool' :hahaha:

So long as you've got an iPhone 4S or older (that won't work with other phones). Safer bet going for a 3.5mm jack instead?

I take it the paint code for the CSL wheels is secret squirrel then?

Ha, ha, I was still thinking 'Retro' after Barry's post.
Kept under lock and key, away from prying eyes - you'll be surprised at what turned up to be the best match!
