Guys, looks like the price keeps going stratospheric. :smokin:

You will sweat like a pig and loose even more pounds when whizzing round the ring. :hahaha:

Prices in CH have dropped the last 3 years and have been steady the last year or so.
I think they will increase in the years to come.

well, you never know. Have you seen the prices for NSX's!!! Personally I think the CSL is a much better vehicle than the NSX. Dunno why people keep thinking that these people are dreaming. All it takes is one rich buyer who like the vehicle to buy it and that's it.

People can scream foul that they did not get a decent price, but then that responsibility is down to the seller, not the buyer.

If you are pricing it to give away, buyers who perceive a lovely bargain will no doubt grab it.

An example is, do you think the F1 with its crazy premium better vehicle than say MP4-12C or Mclaren P1? No, the vehicle resides in a market place with participants that denominate car purchases in the $Millions, hence they will pay to own.

The CSL has way more vehicles around (but way less than the NSX), the price is determined by the people who hold them (whether strong hands) to determine the floor and ceiling price. So imho, if people are starting to believe these premiums, eventually buyers will be starring at these price levels. The only thing these people have that will reduce the possibility is that a fellow seller who needs to quickly move the vehicle, hence a devalued premium. So I guess the conclusion is that the premiums will be much higher when a critical mass is approached where the vehicle is owned by wealthy individuals who won't resell them until a large premium is achieve.

I agree with you.

Here are the prices in CH -> http://www.autoscout24.ch/de/autos/bmw--m3?allmakes=1&make=9%2c0%2c0&model=1562%2c0%2c0&nav=8&sort=price_asc&typename=csl%2c%2c&vehtyp=10

I think in a few years from now they will be 80k for high mileage cars and more than 140k for low mileage cars.

Just look at Z8 prices...

Respectfully I must disagree with you. :)

Z8 is damn pretty car and that's what people pay silly prices for. Tin-tops, unless a great race pedigree and even then sometimes, have a ceiling that is lower. 911's & Ferrari's wear a nice frock.

Even now, most E9 CSL's & E30 M3's SE's are selling at a lesser price than Z8's. The Z8 was more expensive at the outset - same as the E63 M6.

Price of the 507 & 328 has gone through the roof.

I was talking about CHF and not GBP.
It is of course speculation, but this is what I personally believe.
Have a look at E30 M3 prices vs their price when new.
Here a not so special example -> http://www.autoscout24.ch/de/d/bmw-m3-limousine-1990-occasion?allmakes=1&index=3&make=9%2c0%2c0&model=1562%2c0%2c0&nav=8&returnurl=%2fde%2fautos%2fbmw--m3%3fallmakes%3d1%26make%3d9%2c0%2c0%26model%3d156 2%2c0%2c0%26nav%3d8%26vehtyp%3d10%26yearto%3d1990% 26r%3d5&vehid=2082471&vehtyp=10&yearto=1990

An M3 CSL in CH when new was starting at 129k CHF.
I don't see why when it's 20 years old and as it is rare and desirable it wouldn't go for the same money.
Just to clarify, I am not interested in selling when the price is high, it's just what I think it will happen (I would personally sell mine only for 0.5M CHF which is unreasonable I know).

Check here in CH the price of an E9 CSL http://www.autoscout24.ch/de/d/bmw-30-limousine-occasion?allmakes=1&index=0&make=9%2c0%2c0&nav=8&returnurl=%2fde%2fautos%2fbmw%3fallmakes%3d1%26mak e%3d9%2c0%2c0%26nav%3d8%26typename%3dcsl%2c%2c%26v ehtyp%3d10%26r%3d5&typename=csl%2c%2c&vehid=2037081&vehtyp=10
Let's not forget the low car prices seen only in the UK, can be seen only in the UK ;)

The way things are going with modern cars it will not be long before they are so boring that anyone that wants a buzz from a car will be looking at anything that is perceived as a drivers car. I think we can count ourselves lucky that Cesil falls into that category. All those cars I believe will go up in price given time.

:hahaha: ... but just think of the improved lap times :smokin:
IMHO it's the bare bones, ZERO speck, low mileage E46 CSLs like this one that are going to be the most collectable/desirable (in years to come, if not already) as they represent the original concept of the purest E46 CSL, as per original design brief.
Although this price may initially seem high, it's worth remembering that EURO LHD CSL prices have always been higher then equivalent UK RHD and are only going one way, just that little bit faster then the UK prices.

Hahaha, I was thinking that too. Yes, I agree that these minimalistic versions will command a
premium.

I'll give you a short story about a time when mine was on the market , Chris Harris just finished a review of the m3 and the CSL was mentioned as the ultimate m3.I got a few enquiries, but I was dithering as I didn't really want her to leave me, but the Mrs kept bugging me as I never drive it and it's taking up one of our parking spaces that we normally rent out for a decent premium. Eventually I had this guy that kept calling me and whatsapp to see the car, eventually I pulled my head out of the sand and took the car to let him have a look. I just expected him to pull up in a golf or mid range sports car, instead he arrived in a convoy of lp700, 993 turbo, 458 etc. After the initial drive, I asked him why he would be interested in the CSL, as obviously he could get much more exotic machines? He told me he read the review by Chris Harris so he wanted the ultimate M3 for keeps. We took it to his garage for inspection and to my horror he had 2 more of his toys there for service a zonda F and the new pagani. In the end, I just couldn't get myself to let her go so I made up the excuse that I'll forward the service record documents and we would go from there.

I just wanted to highlight the type of potential petrolhead in the market for our vehicles. My potential buyer was a billionaire with a dream garage that had room for Cecil. Just his bloody 3 cars on the road in hk cost about £4million pounds. Bastard's got like another 20+ in storage. Never say never, it's a great car.

P.s maybe we should get the monkey to do a CSL test in drive. Now that would pump things up.:hahaha:

Prices are growing up a lot in France too. Not that much but not so far.
A nice model is close to 60K€. Cheaper is not possible to find. And it is every day closer than 65K...

For this German one, I guess the color is a big part of the price reason :hahaha:
