Err yes, that would be me who entered Wehrseifen far too fast having not long passed a Mini who was adamant he would not let me pass. A little too full of myself.

jesus pip you were lucky. very hot into wehrseifen.

were you on cups on normal road tyres?

its understeering like a cross channel ferry and lots of hero tyre squeal. good effort and am sure the close exit was planned ;-) :supz:

Yes, I realised that I had gone in too fast but thought I could carry the speed through when I probably should have continued breaking in the initial phase before the sharp left. I was just not sure I had enough space to get the left turn in so came off the brakes and went for it. Anyway lesson learnt, calm down and do not go in so fast.

I was on Michelin PS2 as I was thinking the weather would be poor and it only being one day on track, I did not bother taking a set of Cups in the boot. I utilized the space to bring back a few crates of beer. Shocking really Euro 80 per 500 ml bottle and the the same stuff is about £2 in the supermarket.

Wehrseifen is no place to be overtaking anyone unless they pull over to the right for Ya :smt023 ... though I'm certain you realies that now... you lucky, lucky boy ;)

I was not actually overtaking at the corner. This was successfully done beforehand but as soon as he let me past he was straight onto my tail and chasing me hence it may look that way. I had been glued to him for a while but he gave no quarter. To open the gap a little more I felt that I had put my foot down and went into Wehrseifen too fast as a result.

I do wonder if the result would have been as close or worse if I had run with traction control on. I tend to run with DSC off these days in the misapprehension (perhaps) that I will improve my driving.

Hey Pip we all need a little bit of luck at some point and looks like you put your allocation for that day to good use there and then :smokin:

I'm also a DSC off all the time guy. Goes back to my Cosworth days when there was no option and I actually prefer it.

Heroic effort, Pip. It's rare to see that much understeer, I have to say.

Just came back from the Circuit Days event at the Ring and Spa and there were some near-miss heroes there too, and a couple of poor guys who arrived in their shiny toys (1M and 996 Turbo) and went home in the back seat of their friend's cars. The standard of driving at Spa was patchy, with some people seemingly unable to use their mirrors. Conditions were awesome, both days.

Here's a quick video of my mate following me in the new E36 track car, which we intend to race this year. Looking forward to the harsh critique of my lines, etc.
