Hello all, does anyone know the latest on the CF roof? I have been asked to provide a VIN for a friend of a relative and am loathed to do it. Rather than just say no I would rather point out that these are not being made by/for BMW anymore.

Is this the case or have they made a new batch. Apparently it was a BMW dealership that said he needs a VIN implying there are ones available.

I seem to remember a member was waiting for one a while ago. Are alternatives CF Automotive?

Hi, I was told in November that they are no longer available. So you can tell him to beat it sans guilt!

I seem to remember someone ordered a Carbon Roof a while back as a replacement for one that had been damaged. What they received was a steel roof despite it being for a CSL.

I too remember it being mentioned as the part number now refers to a metal item.

That's what I had heard aswell that they are just getting steel roofs now instead of carbon items. So it's safe to say you can say they're not available.

Geoff Steel Racing or Evolve Automotive seem to be the people to go to for carbon roofs now

Thank you all. That has confirmed my belief and will save me any embarassment in saying "No".

Sounds daft but anyone in the know of how bmw vin no's work could easily get a specific csl no. just by looking up advertised build no.s in peoples signatures on here ????
Didn't all csl's vins follow on from each other ?

All caused by BMW not being rigid enough with preventing non CSL orders. Other manufacturers demand a vin of their limited edition cars but then have the added protection of limiting the orders of the same part per vin.
