Reluctantly, I am selling the E36 track car that I've had so much fun with over the last year or so. After buying the car built, we've spent some time and money ironing out a few niggles so that it runs nicely, but now want to move it on quickly as we are looking to go racing this year, so we've priced it competitively. Details are set out below. Thanks for looking.

Will post these tonight. Currently track only, but Raw tell me that making her road legal shouldn't be a huge undertaking.

if its got heater still, lights, seatbelt fixing points then you should be ok to get road legal for the MOT.

More pics as requested, and thanks Das Chin for the tips about the MOT. It definitely has lights, heater and I think it still has the seatbelt mounting points. I really wouldn't recommend it for a road trip, though, without significantly softening the suspension.

The other thing I forgot to mention is that we got rid of that horrific steering wheel, so she now comes with a nice, alcantara dished Momo effort which is bigger. We also ditched the E36 steering rack and fitted an E46 rack. These two things made a huge difference to the steering. :119:

late 20s all day derek. especially for my old girl in sapphire Black ;-) if Johnson is charging what he is for that stock then yours is of a far superior prep I am sure.

gregor have you got the glass screen at the front still? not polycarb? wont pass MOT w/o glass screen.

have you done the rear window as well in polycarb? that should be fine as rear heated screen is an option in many cars that old. remove the rear screen button if left in!

for the MOT I would even bolt the old belt holder into the B Pillar with the belt and then attach the old belt mounting points. you should be able to do that to the runners. that is what we used to do as its only a few bolts so not much weight!!

if its a pre CAT car then you won't have to worry about emissions too as the early 316 shells would be the case. M3s came later and I think they all had CATs. not sure what the chassis number will show up in terms of build year but tell the DVLA its an early K plate or sth.

I had a four door e36 m3 with full cage, carbon bonnet, boot, Geoff steel bits etc in a higher state of tune and track prep and that got through ok. mind you the MOT was done by a friendly stevie wonder via google earth ;-)

I keep getting photo updates on what Bromers is doing to this car and I have to say, she's going to be brutally quick once it's finished. Rick, you should post some of the photos, I'm sure people on here will be interested.

Been a while since I was on here.

Quick update on the car :

Car needed a bit of work to get it into race spec - primarily a full roll cage going in.

Pics :
the cage going in and after fitted.
Mate stuffed it into the tyre wall at Oulton on its first track day :( - no major damage mainly panels and track rod end.
Quick car - point to point with my mates 355 challenge - M3 noticeably quicker.
Needed a new spoiler to meet MSV TT regs - no aftermarket aero.
Pic at Brands Hatch.

Done a couple of races now - Oulton Park - fantastic but know the circuit well, wanted to get below 2.00min laps - ended up with 1.58 during the race on a full tank, and pretty knackered tyres. Brands Hatch GP (nice to meet you Gregor) was something different - some quick cars and drivers out there and finished a miserable 18th ish - new track though ;)

Rodney was never that spick and span when I owned him, and on watching the drive at Brands, he didn't look that slow to me either. As you say, the Brands GP is a tricky circuit to be quick on. Great to see you, Rich. Love the fact that he now has a proper spoiler.

Thanks Gregor.

Just completed a one hour race at Silverstone at the weekend (still using the same rubber I bought the car off you - quite entertaining) and finished 3rd overall, well happy. Competed against a couple of youngsters from the GT Academy - fully supported vs our couple of spanners and wheel jack :)

Agree, well done Rich. There's nothing like showing up for race day and realising that your wheel brace and tyre pressure monitor doesn't quite cut it compared to the airjacks and hospitality tents down the paddock.

PS: The rubber on Rodney when you bought him was only just scrubbed in :gayfight:

Racing is going well, but now the season is over. To be honest, the combination of being busy at work and travelling, plus sharing the car with my mate Ian, has meant that we haven't got the track time I would have liked. We've guested in the Toyo Saloons series and we also did a Team Trophy race.

My impression of the different series was that the participants of the Toyo races were more seasoned and that the standard of driving was higher, while Team Trophy was more patchy - certainly I witnessed some incidents that made me think twice about doing a full season. My mate Darren got put into a wall, for example.

Also considering selling E36 M3 track car and buying two E30 Project BMW saloons and doing a full season. The racing is much closer, I think.

After watching the video clip twice, as I couldn't believe my eyes the first time... I have to say Darren is a very lucky boy to have survived that head on ... but also I feel the need to ask, what action was taken against the 968 driver... and I use the word "driver" very loosely here as that appears to be a very deliberate & malicious act .

Shimmy, yes, that looks like a good series indeed. Could be interesting given that I share the car with my mate Ian, and we could probably do with a series that allows sharing but in which either of us can race if the other one cannot make it.

Matt, I think he got docked 6 points and a fine. There has been quite a furore about the incident in the video and the drivers' briefing at Snetterton included particularly forceful warnings about contact on track. However, the standard of driving was still pretty poor, although (to be fair) I did manage an excursion on the grass when trying an inept overtaking move

Doing CCSC again this year - but only the 2 Silverstone rounds.

Hoping to do the Birkett in November.

Car has evolved slightly since last time, Wayne has worked his magic.

...... and he reckons this is the fastest ever M3 he's been in and nothing will touch it on the track ..... Shimmy ;)

how does the regs affect the m3 in TT? do you need to throttle back the S50 or S52 to meet the power/weight requirements.\?

Max you can run is 225 bhp/T, weight measured at the end of a race inc driver. Power at the wheels, rolling road. Mines at 211, not much more I can do on weight or power. Aero mods are allowed:)
