BMW Dealers Engine Oil Change do they change by the oil sump plug (which is presumably better?) or a suction device ?

And if they do by the suction device is it possible to request via the oil sump plug ?

Which is better for the engine ?

Elms do it by sump plug, which is by far better.my local dealer sucks (literally ) which is crap as you don't get all the oil out,I've asked them to drain mine by the sump, but they won't,so I don't bother going there.

I'd be very suprised if dealers do it by sucking it out on a CSL. Impossible to get the pipe down to the dipstick tube without taking the air intake off, which takes longer than draining it correctly via the sump bung!

Dealers do have oil 'suckers' , depending on the car this removes all but 0.5l - 0.8l of oil. As you say, not a proper oil change:) I never used to use the sucker at the dealer to be honest, they're pretty naff and very slow.

I been reliably told this morning by a BMW Dealer Senior Tech (who no longer works for BMW but a very well known BMW Specialist) that in the several BMW Dealerships he has worked at plus several other BMW Dealer sites he has visited they all do via the SUMP.

May be using them for my BMW Inspection II Service
