Have a recaro profi spg with side mounts, will purchase vac floor mounts.

How do you fit oem seat belt receptacle? Do I need to buy another item? I can't find any info on here.

Cheers

Just had a look at my recaro spa's. OEM seat belt locks are bolted on to the near side of the seat with the piggy back retraction assembly. It appears they've simply used a template off the oem seat and then pilot holed the new mounting holes.

Something to be aware of if you're DIY'ing. Take a measurement of the exact position of the belt retainer location on the OEM seat before you remove. This is to ensure the belt doesn't sit to high across your right shoulder resulting in neck rash with the belt material.....My retainer was a tad high which on a long journey was a pain in the neck literally.

I was advised to keep the oem belts in situ to avoid any officious MOT testers pulling a face at the race 6 point harnesses.

Is it mounted to the slider as oem. Turner make a mount which is mounted between slider and side mount. That's a lot of mounts:119:

Mine is through the side mount.
Large washer either side and a high tensile bolt.

Think the VAC mount is basically a strip of steel bent @ 90deg with 2 holes. Don't think it would be too hard to replicate if that was the route you fancy.

Whilst the belt receptacle is attached to the seat on the oem design, i never feel happy once you have moved to a "race" seat. I always go for an FIA spec plate on the side of the transmission tunnel. It can be done with just a single hole through the carpet and is hard to spot if removed later. If you are going to cry about it you can take out the rear half carpet, or even fit a new one when you sell it.
Why have a doubt in your mind about safety when it can be done to FIA approved standard?

I retained my 3 point seat belts as well as running a 6 point. I have Recaro's FIA mounts & sliders and they come with the brackets to allow you to opt for this.

For the VAC mounts you'll need these:

Macht Schnell also do some that should be compatible. These are similar to the Recaro ones. However the Recaro ones come with a welded nut the other side so the receptors bolt straight on.

Should have some pics if need be.

Mr Benz, that's not much good if you have a slider as the belt socket doesn't move!

Mine is secured through the Recaro seat side mount or maybe the slider itself With washers and HT bolt.

My Harness securing points are however bolted through the car floor as Mr Benz says

Just the seat belt mount, used the floor mounts to replace the Recaro ones that are designed for rear passengers to get there feet under the seat.....cheers for that Recaro, i just loved driving about with my head pressed into the headlining :banghead:

It's just the fact that people will secure the thing to the side mount with a bloody great 7/16" high tensile bolt, but then bolt the side mount down with two 8.8 grade m8 bolts about 12" apart. Seems bonkers to me.
I've used an old rear clasp on a short length of webbing, sharing the bolt used for the harness on the tunnel.

Slider? Who else needs to drive your car?

What are oem seats secured with?

Never used to have a slider, but BMW and Simpsons couldn't test drive it....

Also I have different driving positions for track and road:smokin:

KK/Alex, are you using a recaro floor mount for the e46 or do you use vac mounts.

I run Recaro FIA sides & floor mounts. Took me a while to get the set up how I wanted it - retaining a 3 point & including a 6 point without having to drill through the floor.

Below shows how the kit comes:

LEFT- Floor mount/ RIGHT - Slider (the 2x bars packed on the right you do not use)

I think Mark at NCB sorted me out at the time through Recaro directly in Germany. IIRC they are made to order but some may stock them.
Speak to Capital Seating, they may have stock. Sorry no part numbers, just state E36/ E46 M3.

Alex, there are only 2 parts needed to enable you to fit a seat which are required:

1. Side mounts - required.
2. Floor mounts - required.

Sliders - required only if you want to adjust seat. (Remember this will raise the seat higher).

Does the above kit include the floor mounts ?
