Time has come to sort my brakes out. First up new discs front and back . Where is the best value to get new discs at the moment ?
Also I have the callipers off the car and I plan to have them powder coated. What prep should I do before hand i.e. Replacing the seals before or after? And how should I clean the callipers before powder coating them can they be dipped in the acid that's used for cleaning up wheels ?

Anyone changed their own seals and dust boots on their brakes just watched a really good vid on YouTube showing how to do it looks straight forward enough.
Speedys garage how to rebuild brake calipers is where you will find it .

I have, just used a bike pump and a bit of wood to blow the pistons out. It's a doddle really, painted mine with some high temp paint

Waste of money Jim. You drive like a fanny so wax crayon would suffice.

Bells with high temp silver rattle can & high temp lacquer

Bells lasted 5 minutes :hahaha: but calipers still wipe over good as new after a year of hard braking

I have done a half dozen of these, the pain in the ass is pushing the pistons and seal back in, can end up damaging caliper on garage wall after throwing them across the room!:banghead: Its a DIY if you have all of the tools and airline as in the speedys Garage youtube
Good Luck!

Got them done with the brake calliper specialists. There work is really good just a bit on the expensive side. The colour I went with was a colour they use on mclarens cars . Thought it would look good on the Csl something different than the red or black callipers .

Just had mine back and fitted from Paul46.
Popped round, took them off, took them away, brought them back, fitted (to be tested when Intrax back on)
New nipples, new seals, new dust caps. Was gonna fit new hoses but the old look good.
Price fantastic.

Very nice indeed . When you say fantastic price what are we talking?
Speaking of fantastic price bought two oem rear discs today from BMW in derby on eBay £205 including postage that's £40 cheaper than my local dealer could do after discount.
