I'm about to buy a set of Michelin pilot supersports, the only ones I can find listed on line are rated extra load, which the car does not need.
Would the extra load tyres(93 fronts instead of 89, 96 rears instead of 92)
Make the ride harsher or should I just buy the extra load tyres as I've not yet found the tyre I want in the correct load rating, apart from company's like Ats who are much more expensive than others, thanks in advance, Scott.

I doubt it would make the ride harsher as they are not like the run flats. I would pay more attention to the tyre pressures.
its just there if you need to. I have run a heavier load tyre on other cars and it seemed to not make zero difference.
I have heard that the XL rated tyres have stiffer side walls but that tends to be for loads over 100 like on 4x4s
unless you were racing then I doubt any of us can really notice for every day use and the odd track day!!
I would ring up one of the tyre manufacturers and their UK HQ division to ask them. am sure Michelin have a technical desk you can speak too?
tell them your car came with them on, not the OEM, you are a bit worried etc etc.

Thanks, I've ordered pilot super sports, only available in the extra load option anyway.

Remember just because the tyres can take it you can't load up the cardboard boot.

They're not for a Csl, I got fed up with my shopping falling through the boot floor so got rid of it.
