View Full Version : AC Schnitzer suspension
Good evening guys,
I have the ACS racing suspension on my non CSL M3 and looking to do something with the springs.
I seek advice on what poundages would work nice with the ACS dampers and which manufacture of spring would fit.
I believe the Bilstein PSS10 kit is virtually identical and according to TMS, a range of springs can be sourced.
My aim is to have a (even) lower ride height with more aggressive spring rates.
I would be nice to combine a lower, firmer spring with the ACS dampers as I find the car just "nice" on the road and quite handy on track.
I am prepared to sacrifice some ride comfort to achieve my aim of a not too compromised road car combined with a more capable track car.
Other mods are Eibach arb's, ploy bushes, limiter kit, rear adj arms, TMS mounts. All the parts are either here or on the way from the U.S.
Is there anyone out there who may have some info or experience to share?
Thanks
Ian

I heard the Bilstein 10 were not damped well for Track use
,
Cheers for the reply shimmy, TBH, I thought pss9/10 was meant to be ok?
I had pss9 on my old e36 328 and it went really well
keep it coming guys ;)

I remember at Spa your Bilstein wouldn't stiffen up enough for the track? I think.
Too soft!

You must be thinking of someone else mate  I wasn't on PSS10 at that time but on 70K miles old & tired OEM CSL suspension which "unsurprisingly" was way too soft for Spa :119:
TBH it was scary and darn right dangerous at times :119: s.mac will testify
Soon after that I bought my brand new PSS10 kit to replace the tired OEM set up with
Here's a pic from the day (May/June 2010 IIRC) look at it's OEM ride height :(

Looks good, not sure what the duty payable would be though.

do you have pics with car on 18"'s with the pss10?
also, what other suspension mods do you have and thought on its performance

Hi Ian
No pix of PSS10 & my old 18"s TD 9Js combo but here's a pic with OEM 19's, full Phat CUPs with H&R 12mm /10 mm spacers, PSS10 & Ground Control front adjustable top mounts :)

Here's a couple of pix of the PSS10s with GC top mounts.
I've now covered in excess of 10K miles without any problems what so ever  I love the simplicity and ease of adjustability... a single turn wheel adjuster with 0 = soft to 10 = full hard (no silly alan keys and infinite scale to get lost & confused with) ;)
They are fully rebuild-able too, when they eventually get tired & you can upgrade to other springs rates, if you wish. I find the stock PSS10 springs just right for me ... stiffer then OEM but no too hard as to become nervous and twitchy with unpredictable snap over steer.
Superb @ the Ring :smokin: (no surprises there as they were specifically developed @ the Ring) but seem to work well on UK TDs too, such as Snett and Brands.
Other suspension mods include Poly bushes on both front & rear anti roll bars + Poly rear trailing arm bushes in addition to OEM New rear shock top mounts, New OEM anti roll bar drop links all round, New OEM spring pads and replacement OEM lower arms. I hope this is of some help to you.

I think ACS suspension is based on Sachs units so they might be the place to start looking for springs/rate/setting/servicing etc?

The GC top mounts are very good.
I think I can get around -12 deg of front camber with mine :119:
thanks for that matt, just what I was looking for
schnitzer racing kit is based on pss10 but with their own rates.
I did wonder about the GC mounts but opted for turner instead, no particular reason, basically tossed a coin
the sachs kit is the "normal" ACS street kit, still better than a standard set up.
FYI, the ACS street kit on my e36 was bilstein and was wonderful but the pss9 I put on later was streets ahead on track

ACS on the E30 M3 was always made by Bilstein ? not sure now
