CCTV recommendations

Looking for a 4 camera system, indoor with 1tb hard drive. Will be wired.

I've been using a SWAN 9 camera system to cover the outside of the property, the garage and my office in corner of the garden.

Its a budget system but have no complaints.
Colour during the day and B/W at night.
Comes with various sizes of HD's and the ability to dial in and view using a smart phone.

I bought it from Maplin back in Sept and no issues so far.

Possibly not what you are looking for though.

CCTV Direct usually have decent deals available as well.

Home or Office system?
Either way, if you employ a contractor keep it local and make sure they are 'ISO' and 'SIA' approved.:thumbs:

I'll put one at home and one at the office.

Seen the Swann ones, wickes have a offer on them at the moment.

Was it easy to fit?

Need some more cash so back on the porn films again :)

Wickes no longer list CCTV in their Electrical/Security Items perhaps the reason for the deal?

Office/shop installation must be signed and the purpose stated for which recordings are being made in order to comply with the 'Data Protection Act' beware of the Loophole if it's not signed then it can't be used as evidence if a crime is committed!

Yeah IP based and can be viewed in a iphone.

Plug and play, might be able to fit it myself.

Just a thought from personal experience. im looking for a system as well but havent decided what to get yet.

Avoid bullet cameras if you can, most of the swann systems are bullet cameras. A mate of mine had his Le mans blue edn X5 parked on his drive. a couple of toe rags came and pushed the camera up with a stick (as it is fixed on to a tilt type bracket ) and knicked his 20" alloys (which had 2 bmw locking bolts on each wheel) He came out in the morning to find his car on bricks and he lives in a nice part of north london. He claimed off his insurance and had a set of 4 brand new wheels fitted . Believe it or not they came and knicked em again!!!

I was also told to avoid fixed focus and make sure the cameras are varifocal.

another suggestion was to stretch to HD cameras if budget allows. but i think they are alot more money.

The way I see it the Cameras will not stop anyone intent on getting something. All they have to do is cover their face and job done....the camera is useless.
I see them more as a visual deterrent and hope that any potential thief would see the cameras & alarm system and hopefully just move onto somewhere easier.

Maplin were doing that system Billy with an extra 2 cameras FOC in the package.
