M4 is impressively light. But can go lighter, noisier and faster. They need to get on it.

well i work in the BMW nest, and this morning 2 m4 passed on the street, i tell you this i never heard such a loud FART sound in my life before.
M4/M3 will be known as loudest fart sounding cars of all time. to sum it up it sounds CRAP

Mechanical flatulence at its best? Not a particular nice note coming from a new model!

its very dissapointing sound from the m4 / m3 really, but i have to admit from all of the new generation bmws the I8 sounds and looks the best. i see them everyday with different colour combos. Only the trabant wide tires makes me not to like it more. xD
sounds like values will appreciate with our babes. :-D:finga:

Not that good a sound cannot beat the CSL noise

I think measuring anything against the sound of the CSL will come up short. However, I don't mind the new M3/4 sound. Probably something to do with running an M135i that farts just like that.:-D

well it sounds the same as the m135 but louder. and The m4 / m3 looks very big. I mean its the size as the 6 er. Whats the bloody point if all these cars blends together, theres no more any exact border between categories. Lost all the essence

I agree. They all seem to have shuffled up the deck. 3 like a 5, 5 like a 7 and so on. Making room for the 1&2 I guess.
What they really need to do is make a proper 1/2 series M. Superlight weight, say 1000-1100kg's max, very aggressive styling, pumped up panels, proper sporting option (cage, harnesses, etc.) and not wildly powerful. Say 350-375hp.
They had the right idea with the 1M. Great car just too damn heavy.

I think you've pretty much described the 'M235i' Racing there Alex.:thumbs:No mention (as yet) of an M2
I'm beginning to get the hang of this revised 'M' business, before the numerals it's an 'M' car! 'M' after the numerals is wannabee 'M' car.
Saw an add yesterday for an X635i M? At least I think that's what it was!
Looks like they will not produce a CSL. Can't be bad for our residuals. :finga:

:supz::beer: AMG and RS are doing a decent job, lets hope ///M in the process of doing catchup don't screw things over.

Yeah, but problem is it's not a road car and if it was they'd just make it way too heavy. The key is weight. Get it down to 1000-1100kg's and then we're talking.

OK job but still heavyweights.

I suspect if we do get a new CSL it will be an M2 derivative. Maybe they wil release an M2 or maybe straight to M2CSL from the M235i
