Having owned my 'normal M3' for 6 months and my CSL for just 1 month I'am finding the difference between the 2 cars to be extraordinary.. I always felt there would be quite a difference between the cars but nothing prepared me for the real world difference. (all this 0-60 almost identical shit is irrelevant) they are 'TOTALLY DIFFERENT CARS'
I'm trying my best to use the M3 for commuting and shopping only, at the moment, but the desire to jump into the CSL at every oppertunity is proving to be very difficult to resist.. Are they really the same car other than the blue badge??? Sadly the mighty CSL has turned my M3 into a 'shopping trolley'..
It just shows what BMW M division can really do when they are really 'on it'.

You just wait until the weather warms nd the window can be opened........SORN the M3 then

Other than the annoying "is it a real one?", I think the most frustrating question I get is the "is it THAT much better than a normal M3?". With hindsight, the car should have been called the CSL and the M3 bit set aside for the standard edition only.

Two very different animals, two sets of pros and cons, two different purposes.

Liked the M3 SORN for Summer thought Shimmy, excellant way of summing it up. I will use that forever more.

Sorn or maybe sell it..?? I love the dilemma.. I also absolutely love my Tuscan which is supposed to be my weekend drive!! It now has a bit of competition from the CSL. Life is good at the minute.

I really don't want to disrespect the std M3 because it is a superb car.. But when used consecutively with a CSL it feels almost sterile and dare I say 'impotent'... Probably if I drove a GT3 4.0 RS I would say the same about the CSL??

Ive got another M3 as im selling the CSL...:(
The M3 feels like a heavy armchair in comparison.

I had someone looking at mine at a car show and I heard him say to his mate "it's not a real 1 as it hasn't got a carbon roof"...... Guy must need glasses lol

I had some cheeky Cnut knock the roof with his knuckles in car park at raddison at Spa.
Aparently he was checking it was real.
A few choice words were made haha

I recently read somewhere on PistonHeads something like if you put better rubber on a standard M3 it'll live with the CSL on track. Wish i'd of known before parting with over £30k! :smt044

I had a gorgeous Carbon Black M3 Coupe, bought at 30k miles with SMG, HK, Satnav, Sunroof, intravee etc. Fantastic car.

But I remember annoying a few people on PH (ok, it's not hard...) when I described it like driving a taxi when I had that and the CSL for a few weeks.

It's all relative of course and I am sure a GT3RS makes the CSL seem a bit slow-witted.

I'm missing my Csl so much I'm putting an £900 carbon airbox on the m3.

Then I'm coming Csl hunting, gonna show you fuckers you just wasted £30k, I've got heated seat buttons in mine, no heated seats, but still got the heated seats buttons.
