Less money in your bank.
Pork on the drive
If your rich enough to be able to not worry about binning a gt3 in the barriers then you will have more fun.
If your not rich enough for the above, keep the Csl because it will more fun

All of the above + the regret of selling a CSL? (Which seems to be a common theme) Which I suppose is why 15 Months after buy a GT3 the CSL is still here...

Fantastic car and if you have the itch, scratch it. You could always buy back the CSL in two years for more money once you realised you've made a mistake :partyman:

I'd love one. But I think I would barely use it, whereas I use the CSL quite a lot in the summer and use = fun.
It's a lot of car to be sat in the garage.

Im so not attracted to porsche its amazing. Here in München every 4. car is a porsche. if a 911 turbo or a gt3 pass me by i dont give a shit for it i just walk on, im not amazed cause its boring, its not unique at all. Not to mention all really sound like a plastic bucket which you constantly beating with a big stick.
As for the CSL i have seen only one in Münich on the road in 5 years and that was at BMW Group at Max Diamand Strasse. It had the M KW 4087 license plate which was one of the press cars. Anyway you should have seen people reaction when it passed on the road, it was like "hey theres the legendary car the best M". All im saying is that the CSL is a much more unique special car then a gt3 imo.

hehehe - when I was at the ring, people were having the same reaction when a CSL went pass. (Sorry was in a rental from RSR, so wasn't mine :blalalala:) No reaction when the porkie went by. Nearly every other car was a Porkie.

But still, a 991 GT3 is on the cards. BYE BYE GTR!!! :-D

+1 :smt055 not been in a gt3 since the 996, but the bog standard 997 & 991 are just boring, no spence of occasion even on track. Are the gt versions that much better?

if i had the money i would buy another csl a black one with very low km. :smt117:smt027:smt026

i have to admit i love the black csl, it does have a different style then the silver one. :) wish i could have that csl from the bmw museum. that would be heaven

I would keep the CSL if you want to give a GT3 a go, just in case. 996 for a more analogue experience (no DSC/PSM or other aids) and a 997 if you are after all the electronic nannies/safety kit.

Vic, I thought all your mates are "Rick Ross" ing up in GT3's? What do they think?

digi
16-01-2014, 05:04 PM
seems like the main sticking point would be to own them both. I guess depends what you are after.

I think we can only tell you to keep the CSL becoz from a $$$ perspective its done with its depreciating, whereas the 997 GT3 has a renewed model that will affect its supply/demand equation. In other words, you are selecting between a limited edition and a unlimited edition. :-D

If you are after the drive, experience and the overall Porkie image I would go for it. Just get what you enjoy and what floats your boat.

People tell me the GTR is too digital etc etc. But its not. They tell me keep the LP570 Superleggera (luckily I didn't, prices will tumble soon as the new one is released). Based on your priorities, select on your criteria's, not other peoples wishes.

Both magic cars. Just one won't tolerate fools as Clarkson says. :finga:

I'm getting a 991 GT3 becoz a fool can drive it and the mrs will enjoy it due to the flappy paddle PDK. Manual box is something that has stopped me from getting one period. Hence, as you can see my needs are way different to most petrolheads. Your choice, your needs and your love!

If you do get one, you getting a RS version? That wing on the back can support a mini picnic. Lovely piece of kit.

its does look bigger, but the PDK is the main selling point for me as the mrs can drive it to the shops etc, :) and I can use it for the occasional blast. Its going to loose alot of $$ too.

If I had it my way I would have a 997 GT3 RS instead as it won't loose much and I'd never touch its limits anyway. :partyman: Leave all the nanny stuff on as "I AM A FOOL" :gayfight:

But the CSL continues to stay with me. :smt054 Mrs, doesn't understand why I still love it so much. :hahaha: I had my moments in selling her, but hell I'm so glad I did not.

Vic, I thought all your mates are "Rick Ross" ing up in GT3's? What do they think?

As one has a 997 RS and 991 GT3 I'd say they like them :hahaha:

If It was me spending that sorta money Vic it would be an RS, but it is a lot of money to throw around a track. But live once and all that

Das Chin
17-01-2014, 03:48 PM
Vic, I am a big fan of the 996 RS in white but not the 997 tbh.

if you are going to go for a 997 then go for viper green as they are rarer and more sort after. funny when they came out they were not as popular!!

nothing wrong with LHD either

make sure you get them very well checked as some horror stories out there of crashed ones....even at the Porsche garage as a main dealer. check out PH for the story of the orange one as shocking!

plumber vic
17-01-2014, 04:54 PM
Yes Nick read that story on PH
Green ones are like rocking horse shit to get hold of and orange ones are going that way.
