A friend of mine has just bought a 2007 E92 M3 and he has been looking at the options for brake kits.

In the past we have, between us, fitted most of the premium options in one form or other (AP Racing, Brembo, Alcon, Performance Friction). I'm aware of other premium options like Stoptech too.

The question is, what are the lower cost alternatives (D2 / K-Sport etc) like?

I'm thinking of a D2 / K-Sport kit running RS29s. For that reason anything with a pad and disk fitment that mirrors the AP kits would be a good start...

K Sport are not bad at all, not AP but they are a vast improvement on OEM, last time I spoke with my K sport Rep they were doing a deal on them !

I've had a look online but can't seem to see anybody selling an E92 K Sport kit. E46 yes, E92 not as far as I can see.

Quite a few people running them on tuned Skylines and the like - sure they can cope with an M3...

My business partner has used them on a high power evo for 4 years.,zero issues. Stops on its nose, everytime.,

4 years and not even stripped to refurb them yet.

3 years at 520bhp and full seasons sprinting at 600bhp on rally slicks. If they had a weakness he would have found it.

Speak to Martin ^ trackm3, he will sort you out

Ask him about supplying Carbotech xp8 or xp10 as an alternative to rs29

10 for more track biased, 8 for more road orientated.

I have KSports on mine and I'm very impressed with them, I also had them on my Mk2 Focus RS before the CSL and that's the reason I decided to use them again.

It would be the Super 8 Kit so be very surprised if theres any in the UK even at K Sport, let me know if you want a price for a set ?

Will the bmw performance calipers from the m135 not fit directly onto the e9x m3? I am currently running a set on csl discs with rs29's and the calipers work out at £608 inc vat a pair after discount! Have run them at donnington for 30 mins + with no fade!! May be even cheaper than k-sport!

He has checked and thinks that the only K Sport kit available is a 380mm kit. That may be a non starter because the plan is to run 18" Cups.

Please to share costs if you have them to hand - realistically it is something that needs to be ticked off before the TD season so there isn't an immediate need.

standard size disc on e92 m3 is 360mm, so iirc the ksport kit is 380mm,

K sport have just confirmed it is the Super 8 Kit only for the E90/2 M3 and yep 380mm only cost is £1900 all in, AP is not much more and offer an 18'' wheel option !

Wow - that's expensive considering that the smaller K Sport kits are so much cheaper! Agree the AP kit does start to look a little better.

Thanks for looking that up.

I have just got myself a AP kit. 378mm as I will just run the OEm wheels at Nurburgring and track days. I went for Black and now the calipers are in Gloss black rather than the Matt finish AP use to do.

tHE Radi-cal Kit is made in the USA by 'Stillen' for ('Stillen@lfor) there market, so it looks like its not coming to the UK, so it wont be replacing the current kits anytime soon.
