Hello All,

I am posting this thread now to start the discussion about having some of the E46 M3 gang come over to the United States in 2016 for a event to celebrate 15 years of E46 M3 and 100 years of BMW. This will be a week long event that will be a mix of sight seeing, road tour, and one track day.

Right now it is just discussion about ideas and so on with nothing set set in stone. I am looking into sponsors to cover the cost of event activities and hotels so the only major cost to you for attending is flying here, car / rental, fuel and food. We will see how that pans out.

What the current plan is for you guys across the pond is as follows.

1. See about working out a group transport rate for those who wish to drive their own car here. This would be a rate for shipping here and back.
1A. Work out group insurance rates for the time in the states so you can drive the car here for a few weeks

2. As sending a car here and back will be $$$ the alternate option is discounted rate on BMW rentals for attendance.

3. See if there is a way to get a group rate on air travel (single city departure is the only catch)

Currently the event is planned to cover several states in the mid United States as this is fair to those coming from either cost with their cars.

I hope some of you find this idea at least worth considering for the sake of at least a good adventure.

Cheers

Sounds interesting but I can't see the car shipping costs being low enough to tempt owners to commit to this.

I'd love to take my CSL to the States but I am sure it would be prohibitively expensive... Prove me wrong! :-D

I have no doubts it will be $$$$ but does not hurt to try.

The real scenario would most likely be BMW rental cars for those who wish to participate. But even then it is a BMW and everyone will have the same rental car for some fun activities.

I will be keeping this and other international threads up to date as I work through the logistics. Just wanted to get it out there now so people have it on their radar, all beat is WAY out there.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but would we be able to run our cars in the USA. The csl requies a min of 95 RON & I thought you had max 91. Have always wonders how this works when the M cars are sold over the pond.

Just the thought of taking CSLs to the States is mind blowing! :119:
What a reception they would receive from the non CSL community - all covered in drool! :hahaha: I think it could turn out to be a one way trip for some? :smokin:

We have 91 and 93 depending on the state. Most of the planned states we will visit will have a 93 US fuel rating.

Our 91 is higher than your 95 fuel rating from what I have read and been told. If you want comfort I live in CA with 91 octane and my OE CSL converted car has no issues. (Yes I have done the motor changes before you ask)

Thanks for posting Dragon, this is interesting indeed. Only ever driven in the US in Camaros and the like. While nice and comfy, I always yearned to have the Cesil or even my E30 out there when the roads got bendy
