So I was wondering.
They say the enhanced model does 180 miles with full charge, and to do that at 18% the generator kicks in to make the last 18% last longer. questions:
1. Why not run the generator all the time so it does 300 miles?

Presumably because running the generator is less efficient that charging from the mains supply?
I think it is great.

I have to say i3 and i8 look ace and sound like good cars, just wondered why 180 miles and not 300 (at least that's a tank of fuel)

I will not be buying any car with a battery that is used for propulsion.

Thoughts on the i3 - Best not to think about it, the beginning of the end. Next it will be embedded induction loops in the roads, put you foot down and nothing - "computer says no".
A time of change is looming ever closer!

'Intelligent' iDrive refers to the in-car computer system which controls and monitors, all the electrical systems of the car!
The i3 and i8 by their designation would suggest that the computer interface has evolved and is now controlling all aspects of the car and quite possibly relaying all this data to BMW, as it goes about it's journey. This sort of tech could very well make speed cameras a thing of the past! :-D
