View Full Version : Too loud for Bedford. Need some advice.

Well yesterday, got a warning for being loud whilst I was near other cars. However, after a spirited lap chasing down a gt3, I set off all 3 sensors in one lap :banghead:
Currently, I have evolve carbon fibre airbox, supersprint light weight race exhaust and 100cell cats. Done 3 days at Bedford this year already, and never had a problem. However, yesterday, was the only day it was not windy. Which might of effected the noise travelling. I can't think of any other reason.
Now, I really do not want to get rid of the exhaust or the airbox, so I am wondering if putting the factory cats back on, will reduce the noise?
Anyone else with a csl and ss race had issues there?
Someone mentioned, opening up the exhaust adding more things? (Can't remember the name) inside it.

I have the full Supersprint (Race) system on mine and the static noise test hits 107dB (so absolutely zero chance of getting on track at Bedford with it). It was no bother at all with the standard back box on (I just didn't like how raspy it sounded). The system is a few years old, so probably repacking it would bring the noise down.

I had the same issue and all I have is an Agency Power rear box.... However after spending all day short shifting I went out on a last session when the track was empty and gave it absolute death and didn't trip a single sensor weirdly...

I think someone was having a laugh - you can change the cats or the back box, but I wouldn't advise anyone to even attempt opening it up to add more 'baffles', that's one mod that could end in tears :bigcry:

Why?
Re packing exhausts is perfectly fine.

i have 100 cells, SS race lgt and res centre and no prob
but on a still overcast day you run highest risk of tripping meters.
not sure what your evolve box adds but easiest way to get under limit
is oem backbox, prob the cats however will
save you a few dB and at least leave you sounding nice
how did yesterday go, was hoping to pop
over but no time left

Supersprint cats will save you 3 decibels.
What's did you static test at?

That's what I thought. It's very rare to have a non windy day at Bedford lol

I really dont want to lose the ss exhaust, it's too nice and light
I think they said I was over by 2dBs. It was an excellent day. Little wet in the morning, but dried up quickly, and no cues, considering we had a full house
Really good turn out of cars as well.

Really???? Is the miltek cats completely different to the supersprint ones? That would be awesome, as I'm pretty sure ss weigh less than the miltek.
I didn't ask what my static was, but I'm usually 1 dB, below what the allowance is.

Static is 101dB and drive-by is 87.5dB at Bedford.

I think 88, 89 and 89dBs was mentioned, in the one lap.
