Chaps,

What's the best way to carry spare wheels in the car?

Do you all stand them up on the back seat bench or take the rear seats out?

I have wheel bags etc, just thinking what's the best way of carting them around without damaging the rear seat plastic etc :)

Just be careful - and be aware that the weight can crack the centre console if folding the seats, so it is worth while putting some pillows under the seat either side to help support the weight off this.

This is the method I use although I think there was someone on here that lay some of them down. This is the best method for space utilization though. I try and put a blanket between the seats to provide extra support to the seat backs.

i take rear seats out its not worth it as the plastic either scuffs or cracks way to easy. 3 wheels on back seat on 2 halfords camping mats and one in boot.

I broke the rear seat in mine doing this so now I remove the base, stand all 4 upright and use a ratchet strap through the ISOFIX mounts either side to keep them in place.

There speaks a man with a plan - the first sensible method proposed that won't damage the interior, obviously given it some thought!

That's okay if you have a garage to keep the bits in

Not at all just got fed up of the things clunking around every time I went round a corner or braked. One almost ended up in the front so had to do something.

Leave them anywhere within the House Craig; Seat, Seat back and Parcel Shelf were not talking Engines or Gearboxes, just items of trim.

rstoughy - modest too! Necessity is the Mother of invention plus a little common sense. :)

Nice one cheers chaps, i'll probably pull out the rear seat base and stand them up, good idea on ratchet strapping to isofix, i'll have a look at the points this weekend :)

Crickey RSToughy, what did you secure them with finest Scottish hemp :-D. I ratchet strap mine too. I used to use heavy duty bungees and then a strap to hold them all together to prevent them ending up in the front.
