Good guess Steve:)

Now, how many rear engine road cars did BMW make....

Quite challenging getting these out with the engine in place!

Absolutely! Have to be very careful, very limited parts availability. These pipes are no longer available, we have had to get them manufactured ourselves.

Its worth it when it comes to the test drive though:) It's a very intoxicating drive, the induction noise is right up there with a CSL. Bit scary putting your foot down, with so little weight in the front it pitches up pretty high, its hard to see the road! Really uncomfortable seats too, and the pedals are really offset.

Still an incredible experience though, really is a very special experience.

How did you hear about that?! You probably know more than I do! I've been really busy, and as usual it was all a bit last minute so dont know much. They've been out all day though, probably the longest shoot we've had. I'll try to find out more tomorrow.

Really sweet Cecotto in there, I know that:)

Found out that it was Car magazine who did the photo shoot, and it was to compare them with the new 4 Series.

P.s I forgot to mention it was a BMW dealer who brought the M1 to us to repair! You could try fixing it yourselves lads, it is is BMW:whistle:

Just shows the level of expertise available within the non franchised sector, when a Dealer take an all time classic/legend to one, in preference to using his own Dealership. Hats off - good on you Munich Legends.
With the M1 and the E21 you must have a formidable reputation in the South, any chance of a Northern branch ?:thumbs:You could always co-opt Darren Wood.

Was brought to you because the original owner of BMW Hexagon of Highgate is selling up and splitting Hexagon.

The BMW Hexagon premises will live on under new ownership of Shape Automotive. They will continue as a BMW Dealer I think under the name of "Spire". All the really nice BMWs will be leaving to go to Hexagon Modern or Hexagon Classics.

The Hexagon owner is concentrating on his other businesses
- Hexagon Modern
- Hexagon Classics
So all the nice E46 M3 CSLs, E46 M3s, E39 M5s, Z8s, M1, E9 3.0 CSL are being sold in the respective Hexagon Modern or Hexagon Classic.
They will also deal with other Marques such as Porsches etc.
So maybe no more super nice and super expensive CSLs, and other classic M Power.
Hexagon has been a BMW Dealer since the early 1970s.
End of an era.

Forgot to add
Previously the M1 and 3.0 CSL were serviced at Hexagon.
I know the guy that does all the M3 CSLs there including the recent 15k mileage M3 CSL.

Their showroom has limited parking but is in a decent location especially near The Bishops Avenue and within close proximity to affluent places such as Hampstead and Muswell Hill.

I remember peering through the windows looking at all the shiny 2002's - in 1970.

Talking of doing well and 2002's, I was chatting to the Old Man over the weekend, about his involvement with BMW's and in particular his beloved E21 323i Bavaria.
However he bought his first BMW a Taiga green 1602 Lux from a gentleman called Ron Stratton in 1973.

Ron's showroom was the converted service bays at the back of a Petrol Station which was located at the junction of Mosely Road/Wilbraham Road in Fallowfield, Manchester, not the most exciting place to buy a car.

However Ron was moving to a new premises, he'd bought the old Rootes dealership showroom on Water Lane, Wilmslow and this is where he was to collect the car.
The significance being that Dad was the first person to buy a car from there and always received a Christmas Card from Ron and his then salesman Mike Hynde.
This continued well into the late 80's and Dad was always welcomed to call in for a chat and coffee.

Ron never looked back - now the Stratstone empire, no more Christmas Cards or coffee!
