Great to meet up with everyone again, along with some new peeps as well :).
Special mention goes to "leaded" and his amazing car control - I thought my attempts at "sliding" (on the empty wet track) were okay, but his proper full on lurid drifts (all the way around Corum) were in another league :notworthy:. Fortunately, I had the best seat in the house :supz:.
After we both got black flagged I felt a bit guilty about the poor marshal apoplectically waving his flag at us as we did syncronised drifting out of Murrays just before pulling off the track (especially as leaded ended up receiving the brunt of the wrath) .
Everything was going so well with both cars until near the end of the day when the front prop UJ siezed on the Escort (second time in 12 years), resulting in it needing to be recovered. At least I had one reliable car :-D.
Of course I can't go without mentioning Billy and Adem's mighty track car - what a machine - forget about CSLs - this is where it is at .

Great until just before lunch time and then it was basically a wet track for the afternoon.
It wasn't a Corsa, it had 4-doors ;).

Good to meet you Mike and to meet some others off the forum too.
It felt like we had the whole wet track to ourselves at the end of the morning session, shame we had to curb the fun. :bigcry:
There is a drift day in Papenburg, Germany on the 13th October if anyone fancies it. I'm booked on. Not a bad place to hone the sideways skills and no getting told off.

Here is the inbetweeners pussy wagon in action.
Its slow but a good laugh, Adem's mate stripped it, removed heaters, power steering, fitted custom exhaust from engine, no cats, straight through centre section, bucket seats, put VR6 Calipers on with grooved discs, then Adem fitted rear bar on Sat when I picked it up.
Next up is sorting the camber out as the turn in is shit. Then supercharge it.

Any vids that capture either the Escort or the CSL - I stupidly left the camera at home on the side in the kitchen and only remembered when I got to the circuit :(.
Also, how much memory do you need in the phone to record a days worth of footage?
billyboysm3
16-09-2013, 04:47 PM
Ive got the escort absolutely obliterating something out of Montreal.
As for phone space I deleted all images before hand and took the phone out for a few sessions.
If I remove all my Take That songs from Itunes that might free up some more space.
Still got a few GB available.

It's got adjustable coilovers, we will get some adjustable front top mounts and Buy camber adjustable bolts to gain some more static camber, ideally want to get as close to -3 as possible, if not were get grinding.
Mike R
17-09-2013, 09:24 AM
Adem,
Don't forget to make me one of those mounts - actually, I'll take two please :).

17-09-2013, 09:27 AM
-3 is a good bench mark, it depends what you are running but if you have say 20 clicks front and 20 rear, you should try starting 6/8 front 16/18 rear in dry, soften it off in the wet. Ideally you want to get the back as hard as poss so it just bounces round and follows the front. It does take some adjustment from rear wheel driving style ;)

Oops - front diff CWP was the part that finally gave up the ghost. A bit of a wounder, as it is a heavily uprated 7" motorsport item (up from the standard weedy 6½ one). Oh well, that is the problem with having 505lb ft of torque :119:. It's done well to last 5 years with the abuse it gets :partyman:

Stu,
When your transmission parts have lasted 5 years without issue, come back to me ;). Obviously I don't need any more torque, as it weighs a lot less than your lardy Porker ;).
The problem is that the case hardening wears through (seems to be every 5 years, as this is the second time I have had to replace the CWP) and then it chips a tooth and then all shit breaks loose (literally :119: ).
Anyway, it's all done:

It also needed a couple of friction plates replacing:

I remove it to aid airflow through the cooling system on track, as a number plate creates turbulence which disrupts the air flow and can lead to cooling issues.
