OEM CSL Roof install on my M3

Well Guys,

I got a wonderful gift from a good friend, an OEM CSL roof. He had it lying around at home since last year but didn't get the chance to install it. We came to an agreement and he dropped the roof off at my shop a few weeks ago.

I set about ordering the adhesive, applicator gun and front and rear window seals. Everything arrived in a week but the adhesive took 5 weeks to get here. Thanks to member disapr for the advice on which glue and gun to get.

Cleaned the roof from the inside with alcohol to prep the surface for bonding. It is beautiful how BMW have markings underneath to help align the roof with the car and center support beam....

Interior goes in tomorrow after the cars had about 24 hours of no moving etc. Wheels wont be painted this time but will get them done in a few weeks.

I would like to say a big thank you to ekanoo and ekanoo racing for helping put my worries aside of having the roof installed.

I will update with more pics in 2 days with some more pics as tomorrow im busy all day plus the detailer's are coming back for a wash and wax for the car. The car feels a bit more nimble. I feel it needs to have the height adjusted on the front by lowering it 5mm more and a good corner balancing.

Thanks mate. I already had he subframe reinforcement done and I can post a thread with pics detailing that tonight. I had that done at my chassis specialists rig :)

Dropped the ///M off at LLUMAR BAHRAIN (Ekanoo) For the clear film protection on the roof. Too afraid of it getting scratched by stone chips etc....

Its weird how the car feels lighter. Did anyone else feel the car handled differently after the sunroof to CF roof swap? I can see that the height needs adjusting again as it looks like the cars sitting slightly higher now.

Its weird how the car feels lighter. Did anyone else feel the car handled differently after the sunroof to CF roof swap? I can see that the height needs adjusting again as it looks like the cars sitting slightly higher now.

I was very close to getting a CSL a few years back but realising the work i had put into my car i backed off the deal.

Maybe if I cant find me a 1M in the future, I'll find myself a CSL and use this black one as my Daily drive :)

But that said I absolutely love my M3 as its been a great result of hard work over the last 7 years.

Ordered a new 3rd Brake light as the current one works but all the rubber is falling off due to heat exposure over the last 9 years. Ordered all new clips etc to install headliner and am very close to ordering some Alcantara too :)

Pics to come as soon as it gets here in 8-10 days and install. Will be taking more pics of the underside of the OEM CSL roof when the older headliner is off.

Neil I'll do that in the future for sure. I have to do some CF work on my interior trim from my CF guys first and a new thicker CSL Steering wheel :)

The OEM Non Sunroof headliner arrived and the parts to install the BT mic etc all arrived so we set about removing the old sunroof headliner which was falling apart after 10 years.

The Used roof came with the alarm motion sensor so it'll be easier to install an OEM alarm in the future. There was no wiring for it in my car though...

One issue we faced was the rear coat hooks wouldnt go back in. When I looked at the ETK it shows a different parts number for the coat hook brackets for non sunroof cars. So i have ordered PN's 51168223047 & 51168223048.

Thanks bro. Yeah love it. Just have to install the brackets for the hooks for the cars with no sunroofs.
