Couldn't help it yesterday...it's been a few months, took it to Le Mans, Goodwood....
But not yet to the Ring, where it belongs!
It's the follow-up for my R26.R, in which I was beginning to feel "the limit", if ever there is one. Had a 7:56 BTG once and didn't really think there is much joy in getting it even faster.
Now in this, with RWD and atmo power, you can imagine I totally need to change my attitude. Basically from attacking things like a hooligan to a well-balanced motorsport feeling. And I'm truly enjoying that!

Weather got better than expected.
Thinking of changing the suspension now though. Hitting full compression in Fuchsrohre is OK, but not in 7-8 places. KW Clubsport seems a good choice as it offers settings for the high and low speed range independently of one another.
By the way - brakes are fine! Perhaps I'm not pushing it that hard, but stock brakefluids and lines do the job. Of course, Nordschleife is pretty soft on brakes, so that might change on other tracks. But for now, I'd better spent that valuable cash in upgrading my suspension.

Sitting on KW Competition since a few weeks - much better and more potential to explore.
Had a good trackday at NS today, full laps with best currently at 08:31.
Tricky stuff though untill about late noon, damp sections making it hard to asses some corners. Great, great fun though! What a car, what a place :supz:

Sunday was bloody foggy, at 1°C it was certainly quite exciting on cups that are a bit worn!

Happy dayzzz :supz:
A bit of news on the CSL. I ditched the KW Comp...on the Nordschleife it was great, but on public roads I just couldn't find a setting I could live with. Since my usage is about 80/20 road/track, I went back to stock - nothing to be sad for since the stock suspension is quite brilliant. Originally I went for the KW's as I was hitting full compression in some places on the NS so I'll lose some time there but gain fun back on the road.
I'm also considering losing the Wiechers cage. Most of the time I use the Alpina when I take my wife & daughter along, but sometimes I'd rather use the CSL instead. Depends a bit on the roads of course.
Only sad thing is that I'll lose a bit of sound and rawness as well, putting the rear seat and all that back in there, but I guess I'll have to live with that.
Still love this car so much. You immediately feel that you're sitting in something special, the sound is sublime and the handling is nothing short of fantastic. RWD doesn't get any better than this!

Guys (and girls?), need some help.
Everytime I take the CSL out for a long drive (multiple hours), it feels like someone is sticking a knife in my neck and twisting it around a bit. Hence I need to fiddle a bit with the seat to set it up differently (more straight up presumably). Does anyone have experience with that - how easy is it? Do's/Don't's?
Further I'm considering lower the seat as well. I'm quite a tall chap and it will certainly help in oversteery situations, my knees tend to get in the way (have the same problem in the GT3RS which is already getting sorted).
Does anyone have any tips / experience with that as well? Do the standard brackets allow for lowering or should I get custom brackets somewhere on the interwebs?

I had a CSL seat for 2 years and 25k miles. Was very comfy and I'm not a small chap.
Only issues were mainly on track where my shoulders and hips did not really sit in the seat enough.
Swapped to a Recaro Profi SPg XL, more room, lower (way low if you don't put the runner in) and so comfy on track and long journeys.

I'm a bit over 6,5ft - perhaps I need to check the brackets, maybe the seat is not yet in the lowest setting possible. it's just a bit too cramped with my knes when a lot of steering input is needed in oversteery situations.

I'm 6'8 and have plenty of knee room in the CSL on the lower settings, so worth checking again
My E30 is a bit of a tighter squeeze though, so just as well they're not very tail-happy ;)

Must be a female thing. The mrs keeps insisting she is 5' 1 1/2" and she can't reach the pedals without a cushion.

I've never had a problem with the seat height and I'm 6'-2"
Clarkson at 6'-6" (1.96m in Euros) didn't appear to have a problem when he reviewed the CSL on the Isle of Man, probably had the seat on it's lowest setting though.

Yeah it's a tad stupid isn't it :) Both plates are also registered on 997.1 RS's.
We have the advantage in Switzerland that we can register two cars on one set of plates, with the obvious advantages regarding tax and insurance.
