What polish and waxs do you use?

Im after the pro detailers typical equialent products and finish along with that super bead run off. I have the time, just need the products.
Ive spoken to SVD, but getting confused on what they offer. Im defiantly getting the waffle weave cloth, as its meant to be a good1 for drying.

For you SG CSLs what do you use to treat and whats your procedures? polish and then wax after washing with shampoo. I want to get rid of those micro small swirl marks, clay needed or just polish and wax?

Someone pursuade me please... :moan: :banghead:

few of good vids to see bead run off and finish:

Yep waffle weave poor boys cloth are great for drying....I use two. I will Polish and then a layer of wax every two weeks or once a month depending on weather. If you don't want to pay a fortune for wax Autoglym high definition wax is good.

Gurcharn from elitedetailing is coming tomorrow for 2 days to detail my car I can't wait :notworthy: .

As mine is also SG I will let you know what products he recommends.

Before and after photos to follow also. It maybe early next week before I can post them though as I am going away for weekend straight after.

Karbonkid if your car has swirl marks you will never polish them out by hand, it will need someone to machine / mop them out. This is a very timely process, if you want to achieve depth into your paint you will have to pay a specialist. I would never suggest doing this if you have no experience as you could do more damage to the paint etc.

Give Rob from Super Car Detailing a call on 07956 647014. He has done several cars on here including mine, he is mobile detailer located in Kent. I know he regularly goes to Brighton as he has a client who has a taste for Exotic cars.

Feel free to have a look at his website www.supercardetailing.com alternatively have a look on here at Englebert, GT TWO and Houlbt Rob does their CSL's. He will come highly recommended and is a top bloke.

Good luck

Rich

Get ready for your credit card to become very friendly with online retailers :119:

Try www.detailingworld.com , register and put mba as the referer

What I hope is to go along and help a detailer and learn the step and procedures of getting the best results. Then I can buy the products myself and do solo. Just need to see it done first suppose. I have the time as i only work half the year, just need the experience with a pro.

Do you mean cleaning?

Don't bother, the dealer will do it twice a year for nothing at service and MOT time, that is all it needs.

I dont think i realise what sort of finish i will get. I am told it will last long term, its hard to believe.

What do people have done with their Alcantara interior, is this something they will treat?

I assume thats a tongue in cheek comment?

If you are even contemplating detailing your would not allow any dealer/bodyshop to wash your car for you.

A full correction of the paint, with correct washing technique and application of sealants/waxes can keep your car swirly free for 6 months +

TBH no amount of careful washing will prevent swirls, but it reduces the intensity of them.

No, serious.

I wouldn't contemplate detailing my car as I'm not American, I might contemplate cleaning it for a minute or so before realising that I can't be bothered.

Mine was given a clean in August 2008 and before that it was November or December 2007. I don't see the fascination with spending hours and hours on having a clean car - There are plenty of things I'd rather be doing.

Did you see that tragic VXR guy - hilarious!

Each to the own Nathan, its one thing i got into quite heavily a few years back and even made some decent money doing so. But although i do not share your views on the bi-annual bath i have toned it down a little

And as for the VXR guy are we talking about VXR_Mark?

Dunno the guys name - he was measuring paint depth on a brand new car and quickly became a laughing stock on the interweb due to his weird obsessiveness. I mean - brand new car, surely you want to just get out there and drive it, not polish it to within an inch of it's life!

Each to their own though, in special honour of this thread I might take mine through the car wash later :)

Yep that was the guy, tbh i thought it was quite excessive to go to that depth on a new car. Not only did he polish it, he pretty much did a complete custom job of the interior & engine bay :119: I could probably understad it for a Ferrari or some other exoctica but not a Vauxhall :gayfight:

Taking your motor through the swirl-o-matic eh??? I suppose on a SG the swirls are not as telling as a black one - unless your car is black then :banghead:

i bought this

http://www.autogeek.net/flex-xc3401-vrg-dual-action-6-5-inch-pad-kit.html

and all the wolfgang products, swirl remover, polish and sealant.

I'm no expert, in fact I've only used it twice, but well impressed with the results on both the cars I used it on
