I noticed whilst being out last night, the top of the gearstick is not lite up and cant see the symbols. Does it light up, as i remember a mates manual E46 M did.

If so im guessing its the bulb and does any1 know how to change?

Also the button on the wheel, what is the actual function and purpose. Im aware its for track use etc...but does it turn off the DSC and allow you to push it more & get you to the shops sideways?

Never really noticed the gear lever tbh

As for the M-Track button its basically the closet thing you can get to turning DSC fully off, it allows to push the car to the limits. Never used it myself fully yet, but im not about to start in this wet weather :119:

It basically lets you get the most out of the car on track with out you ending up in the gravel. Allows you to push more but will still kick the DSC in if really needed I believe.

Do you know never really noticed the gear light so can not help with that one.

Another... and you might get a few more if you dont mind. As the handbook doesnt really anwser them.

The mirrors: They Do not fold up do they by hand or electronically? can only move the glass by the switch.

Any more of those build plaques left either, cant remember the thread. Or do BMW give them to you if you pop in, as i heard?

Mirrors do not fold...ot at least I pretty sure they don't...tried to push mine once but needed too much force which suggests threy don't.

Mark has a build plaque for sale...believe it's on ebay at moment. BMW do not have any left. They made them as an after thought as owners complained.

I used it for the 1st time at Goodwood last November and to be honest did not find the car was tail happy with it on.

Mirrors do fold, manually. They twist upwards so they point to the sky.

SMG stick doesnt light up, and not aware of the manual lever lighting either?
On E60 and E90/2/3's the SMG lever lights up.

Your dealer can order you one FOC as far as Im aware.

They look cheap and nasty IMO and Id never stick it on/in the car. Such an after thought.

Why they didnt number the CSL like the E30's and E36 GTII, I'll never understand :wanker:

Didn't think you could get them which is why they sell for a fair bit of cash on ebay....

As others have said.........

The gearlever does not light up, but you do have that lovely red downlight that gives you a nice red glow which lights up the lever. But you DON'T need it to light up!!! Forward & back, that's all you need!!!! :-D

The mirrors do fold up manually.

The M-track mode does take the DSC off most of the way, but at Croft I still found that the DSC was still too intrusive in M-track mode, so just switched the DSC OFF and found it to be much butter!!

As for the plaque, try the dealers, you never know.......

My e46 M3 manual stick lit up, and from what i remember you can do a SMG conversion and have a later SMG stick fitted to a earlier SMG so that lights too

Only way mine lights up is the orange mood light that illuminates the center console, Have been in a standard e46 M3 manual with the numbers lighting up.
