The up paddle has developed an irritating fault. One minute it has a nice positive click the next it feels like putty. Any ideas, simple remedy?

Shane, I actually laughed out loud at this comment... I watched numerous videos in taking off the airbag when I bought yours but still took me a good 20 mins to get both released. After I learnt out the innards of the steering wheel with regards to the airbag worked, it is a piece of cake though.
Maybe something in there, I'm sure it'd be a cheap fix. :supz:

Sounds like the plastic cover over the micro switch has come off should be an easy fix.

Thanks for all your replies, I may now let some dodgy Elms mechanic have a look if it takes that long as I have two left hands.

No excuse, I have one right hand. I've been looking for a spare left for years now. :supz:

Once you realise what it is you are actually releasing it is a lot easier.

Removing the airbag isn't actually that bad, just really footery and don't go mad with a flat head screwdriver, you may damage something in there when 'rooting around'.
As Shane says, once you've done it once, it's like riding a bike...

I took my wheel completely apart for this exact fault. Its not the micro switches at fault. I found it to be wear on the grey plastic square buckets that sit on top of the micro switch. More so on the upshift paddle.
I fixed by putting a few drops of super glue into the underneath of the grey round bucket. This acts a shim to space the micro switch to the paddle.
Once set ( I left overnight ) and assembled it works perfectly. The paddles also have no play in them now.
FOC fix or £100 to the dealers !
