Hi All my car went into elms in Feb running very ruff i get a call from Emma the next day letting me know the head gasket has gone but it has also warped the head and block but new engine all be covered on the warranty.
Happy days get the car back 4 weeks later but 400 miles later the new oil pump packs up taking the rockers out and scoring the cams.Cars back with elms they are more than happy to do the work to put car right but BMW dont have the cams in stock and cant get any more as the manufacturer has now gone bust.I have lodged a complaint with customer service but they tel me im looking at 2-4 months untel they can get some cams made for me.
So its looking like i will have to pull out of the trip and will not have the car for the hole summer as you can imagine im very upset about this :bigcry:and just dont know what to do now.

Just an idea but ask them to fit schrik cams or buy them yourself and get them to fit them.
If there are no cams available then there is no option for them turn to use outsourced items.you can't wait months for them to make a pair up.

I feel your pain, my car was waiting for a couple of months for BMW to supply a pair of driveshafts, CSL ones are different from normal M3 it seems.

These things happen, & BMW will usually supply inside their estimated timescale.

No I have asked them to fit schrik cams they can only fit BMW parts so its a no go.

They are about £1200 for the 2 cams

Can they have a machine shop reprofile your old cams?

Warranty claims don't work like that....

The warranty is a bit rubbish when there is no timescale related to fixing the issue. At what point does it get really silly ?

I worked in the main dealer network for over 12 years. Whilst the warranty does what it says on the tin, things like this do crop up from time to time.

Ultimately if you car is off the road and its a BMW parts supply issue they will supply you a car for the duration. Whilst this is not ideal and I'm sure you would like your CSL back at least you should have some transport.

I personally feel that the AUC warranty whilst expensive is pretty damn good.

When the F10 came out we had an issue with brakes squeaking, BMW said that a new set of pads would cure the fault. However there was no delivery date on the new pads! Some screamer customers managed to argue a like for like car whilst theirs was waiting for the pads! Unbelievable considering it was just sqeaky brakes. Pads too 6 weeks to arrive in the end.

As you say this is going to impact on your road trip. Unfortunately if you want to go to Munich it'll be the case of taking the car from the main dealer and paying for the Schrik cams to be fitted elsewhere. Perhaps Elms could do as much as they can and just leave the cams and rebuild? You could maybe still get the cams from them and sell them to recoup some of the costs?

This is where I think BMW miss a trick, only fitting BMW parts. There is a massive market for tuning M Power cars, they just dont seem interested. They're quite happy to out source shonky parts (coils & injectors etc), but not interested in doing so with reputable companies (ie Schrik).

I hope you get it sorted mate, I'm sure you've been looking forward to Munich for some time.
