So anyone know what's wrong, I'll be booking in to Munich soon... the traction, handbrake (yellow), tyre pressure and tranmission lights are staying on all the time...anyone else had this problem? :smt102

DSC pressure sensor:
item 2 : part number 34521164458
or wheel speed sensor. But most likely DSC pressure sensor (it'll be the hardest one to get to I bet - the one in the rear - but sometimes both can fail)

That's what it was on mine. I verified with a code reader before giving it to BMW to fix.
I've seen it claimed elsewhere that disconnecting the sensor and cleaning the contacts has sometimes fixed the problem. Worth a try first perhaps...

Call ELM's ask Gareth he said there were lights on my tracktion control when he drove car into workshop this week, changed a sensor and all good

That's exactly what happened with mine. I pulled the plug off on both sensors as the code reader doesn't specify which switch may be faulty.
I cleaned both with 3M cleaner, reconnected, cleared all fault codes and it's been perfect ever since  This should be the first port of call

I had this also and was the fault as described below, 'ABS/DSC Pressure Sensor 1 replaced' per the invoice, at just over £100. No issues at all since replacement.

There's a live read function in GT1 - just unplug one at a time to see which one is faulting. That's how I figured out mine.

i had the traction light and handbrake yellow only today come up on the dash about 5 miles from start of journey....reached destination(40 miles)
came back to the car and no indications at all on route home.
does this mean the fault is not there or just a spurious indication. i have just started running a square set up with rear wheels on the front.
any advice would be appreciated.

If it goes away there will be a fault code I think??
Just bare one thing in mind. I had the tyre pressure light come one while I had DSC, etc. all off. I made the mistake of hanging the back end out in this situation and all the lights came on just like shown above! Stopped the car, did tyre pressure checks, reset tyre pressure sensors and all fine. Any excessive wheel slip with tyre pressure senor warning light on will throw up lots of lights.

Just changing tyres at the circuits brought my lights on did checks all good pressure, so just ignored it from then on after journey back from SPA all went out and stayed out.

how do you reset the red light?
every time i press the button with the tyre symbol on (left of sport button) the red dash indication goes out but lights back up several minutes later....
idiot guide to keeping the red light out would be great.

Turn ignition to 2 (i.e. power on) or start up the car (either way is fine)
Hold tyre pressure reset button down until the symbol on the dash turn from red to orange, let go of button - drive off and it'll reset.

Might need to run a soft reset of the wheel speed sensor ...
Take the car up to over 35 miles - put into neutral and hold back both +ve and -ve paddles on the steering wheel for about 10 seconds (there won't be a feedback or light to tell you it's done) - let go of both paddles and put car back into gear - done.
It's in the handbook - should be done if you've changed tyres.

I wouldn't know Tom ;) as I don't have the GT1... just a pikey Snap-On ETHOS.

My steering wheel is also cocked to one side... I hear it could be rear road trailing arm bushes? Anyway, I'll book her in soon and will let you know...

Hello guys,
Quite right in saying that the pressure sensors are the most likely cause of these warning lights coming on. There are 2 sensors on the master cylinder.
As quoted below the only way to tell which one is causing the problem is to use a diagnostics and disconnect a sensor to see which fault code shows as currently present.
will either list them as 'Pressure sensor 1' or 'Pressure sensor 2', Or fault codes 5E20 & 5E21.
The warning lights will come and go as the fault is present/not present. This differs from EML light for example, this will stay on unless the fault has not occured for 3 ignition cycles in which case it will then go out. Airbag light will stay on until faults are cleared by diagnostics.
As for a steering wheel not straight, could be a number of things but its usually an issue with the front axle, not the rear.
We look forward to seeing you down at Munich's to get it sorted.

I had DSC and Handbrake light come up on dash this week. GT1 showing 5E20 Pressure sensor 1 when checking quickly. Just need to unplug and find which one it is.

Pressure sensor 1 is closest to the firewall...

Unplugged both my pressure sensor connectors and noticed a very small amount of fluid around them both. Decided to clean both for good measures although only one was showing as faulty, allowed to dry, plugged back in, cleared fault codes, test drove and haven't re-appeared (yet). Hopefully problem solved.

Sometimes it's the simplest solutions that work best
Saved yourself almost £100 and the hustle of replacing that pesky sensor positioned nearest the bulkhead, as well :-D
