like the title says
how many CSL owners have had SMG failures? I wouldn't say its common for M3 owners, but I was curious if there have been a fair amount of CSL owners with SMG failures.
Thanks!

Do you mean the gearbox or the SMG specific stuff like the hydraulic control units?
As it happens I've never had an issue.

most of the SMG issues are the hydraulic pump and other issues w/the SMG unit.
that is what I am more interested in.

Not me anyway. Fingers crossed, touch wood and all the rest. I've heard of Hydraulic parts going, actuators etc but not actual G'Boxs.
After I got mine, the previous owner got in touch and told me the car had had a new Diff, Clutch, Flywheel, (Don't think it had had a G'Box, might dig out the PM) due to dodgy noisey experiences from 5000miles until it the final part was replaced at about 7000. Gotta love warranty eh?

I don't think gearboxes should count as they're not SMG specific.

When they change the box they changed the Hydraulic parts as well

i have a 6sp and blew my clutch and tranny on the track (shifted from 4th to 3rd at 100mph :gayfight: )
i had the clutch replaced, and flywheel (spec 1 clutch, jb ltw flywheel). after that, gears grinded from 2nd to 3rd, or 4th to 3rd. It sucked. had the tranny replaced by BMW

I'venot had any problems so far, and I had an SMG M3 for 2.5 years before my CSL and never had a problem. Not heard of anyone else having any problems either.
