With all csl s reaching there 10th birthday in the near future is now the time to talk to your local dealer if you haven't already about this rear subframe issue.
Although I haven't had my car inspected or is it showing any symptoms of damage to the subframe isn't prevention better than cure. So my question to you all is will BMW honour its 10 year body work guarantee if there is sign of damage or will they take preventitive measures and strengthen the subframes of these cars because clearly this seems to be a fault with the e46 m3 it seems like a time bomb for everyone .or am I mad to think they might do anything with my car with no warranty?

I'm going the preventative route next month, epoxy resin injection & reinforcement plates. Will get the subframe bushes replaced at the same time

Who is doing it for you Leins ?

Likewise, my daily has been playing up a little and we have just replaced her car so I will to wait before getting myself something else. As a result I've had to use the CSL a few times recently. Gets a full MOT wash after every trip though :-D

Get a few pic's of yours up Brendan. Dont think we have seen any yet ?

Hi guys (and gals)

Sorry if this is a bit NOOB, but if you have a 10 year or 12 year warranty for corrosion, why use an indie, over a (presumably) FOC repair from BMW?

Is it due to suspension mods that BMW have used as an excuse as to not pay out?

Mine will be 10 year old at the end of the year and I plan on getting it fully checked out prior to this.

Thanks

Found this on official BMW website might shine a bit of light on things although doesn't state what year of build your car must be to obtain it.

Guaranteed driving pleasure.
The BMW dealer warranty.
If you buy a new BMW, you'll want driving pleasure to come as guaranteed. For this reason, your BMW Service Centre now offers a warranty for the bodywork of twelve years and three years for the paintwork. For the entire automobile (excluding the replacement of worn parts), Original BMW Parts as well as Original BMW Accessories, a warranty of two years regardless of the mileage is offered. Service you can count on - we guarantee it.

It is written in he service book. Obviously 12years is for cars 1st Jan 2004 onwards only, 6 years otherwise.

Mine is a 2003 car, so the 10 year goodwill is running out fast. Mine hasn't any cracks (unless some have developed over the winter in the garage ;)) so this is purely preventative maintenance, not repair

hello gents

my cecil is registered mid 2004 so does this give me a 12 year protection against the old sub frame issues ???

Just as an aside, once the 10 year "Goodwill warranty" has run out, would the Mondial warranty cover the sub-frame issues?

Only asking, as mine was checked before Christmas and has no signs what-so-ever of cracking, but the 10 year BMW cover runs out in September this year :(.

Spoke today with the warranty man at my local dealer about the the body work warranty. He confirmed that cars sold before jan 2004 only had 6 year corrosion cover but if your car did show to have problems to have it inspected by them and they would send a report on the damage and what it would take to repair it to BMW. it would then be up to BMW to decide wether as a goodwill guesture to repair it or not bearing in mind that it could cost between 3 and 4k to repair he did say that chances are some e46 m3s might not be worth much more than that. csl models are different obviously . Asked him also would the Mondial warranty cover it he said no that it is only covered on the corrosion warranty . A lot to be said for owning a 04 model?

Yea bought a few cars off them over the years and my sales guy moved to them as well.
I use Bavarian for servicing though, wouldn't use anyone else if im honest mainly because they have an avid CSL nut amongst them who I cannot fault in the slightest.
Cant say too much, dont want him getting a big head as he pops in here now and again

Good to know that about bavarian.to have somebody who loves these cars working on them is a good thing .i've bought cars of both places in the past can't say I was entirely satisfied with a couple of experiences in both places but I suppose that happens. I've been using an independent for my work an ex BMW technician who set up in banbridge German motor works I'm been very impressed with their work .good thing he also does tyres so very much a one stop shop.

Sadly I also can relate to a few bad buying experiences from both as well.
That said Bavarian have really gone out of their way the past few times so I keep going back.
Didn't know of the guys in Banbridge must keep them in mind.
