Hi guys
I'm new to the board and have a few questions regarding the csl...
Ive kept some nice cars in the past and think its time for me to look for a csl if all goes to plan
Firstly the SMG gearbox, Never driven or been in a car with the SMG gearbox, So am curious to how they work?, Ive never seen a csl in person just pics and videos online, All i see is no clutch, a gear stick and some buttons on the steering lol
Secondly i read that they are limited to 155mph. Also can they be de limited?, If so how and what sort of speed can one get out once de limited..
0-60 time, is it safe to say about 4.5secs?
I see a fair few for sale ranging from 25-30k ish minters a bit more.. From a buyers point of view would it be an idea to wait to see if they come down in price? Or should prices stay about what they are right now say for 2009
And where there only 75 s/black models?
TIA
Nick

Hi Nick
Welcome
The SMG box is brill it has flappy paddles so no clutch pedal.
You can also change gear with the gear stick pull back for up the gears and push forward for down.
Yes they are limited to 155mph on paper but you will see 174mph on the speedo and more if unlimited which some are from new.
0-60 time is 4.9
I think the prices are not going to go down now but i could be wrong
but some day it will be a classic
There was 422 UK CSLs and 100 black cars all the rest are silver.
Hope this helps

Though 0-62 was 4.9, so 0.60 should be 4.6....like it makes a load of difference.....

smg 2 on the csl is ok on the road and about town, auto mode is not good and only would be used if the wifey wants to drive and cant get the hang of the smg
but on track or when giving it some real welly the smg is superb and makes total sense, down blip makes you stain your pants!

agree,
but it is a good comparison for 0+ acceleration between diff cars,
no diff to saying the CSL will do 7:50 Full Ring time
it doesnt mean i can do it but a good comparison figure :119:

Stick from a New M3, but they work the same.
Well you have your two pedals, throttle and brake.
The gear lever above.
Two paddles behind the steering wheel near indicator / wiper stalk.
In D/S (see pic) your in forward gears.
D is fully auotmatic - changes gears itself.
S is manual - you change gear using the paddles behind wheel, or by pushing lever back or forth + / -. Plus changes up, minus down.
N is neutral. (obviously)
R is reverse. (obviously)
The lever moves in a 'L' shape.
The button below changes the speed of your gear changes.
SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox) is basically a manual gearbox, with an automated (computer controlled piston) clutch.
Very very fun to use when on a spirited run!
Hope this helps.

Love the vi Mark.. :smokin:
SMG is great fun and when you get it on the track it makes sooooo much sense.

SMG is definitely great on the track, but the low RPM = low oil pressure - gives you that hurky jerky feeling when cruising around town.
sadly the CSL doesn't come w/the 6sp.
i wonder how many SMGs have failed on the csl model?
