47 miles since it's last service and it's off into BMW again tomorrow :banghead:
Broke the CSL out of hibernation last night after putting it off the road in July last year (got paid off so rather than sell it I just stored it)
It was in BMW at the time getting an Oil service, Diff oil and some bodywork done.
Trailered it home as it was out of tax and it's sat in the garage since.
Yesterday fitted a new battery, some tax and took it for a fresh tank of V-Power.
On the way home I started to hear what I thought was pinking while under load. Got it home and plugged in the reader thinking a coil might have gone down. Nothing.
Car is running like a bag of bolts and knocking it's head off.
Suspect Vanos issue but time will tell.
Just hope to have it back in time for Munich now :bigcry:

Could it be head gasket if it was pinking?Sorry to hear yours is not well, there's always something that crops up to lighten the wallet.

Fingers crossed Paul that it's just a bit of condensation in the pipes, with it having been stood for 9 months. It makes me wonder what the low milers are like after being stood for years

Have you thought about the fuel? degradation after storage?
Can you fill it up with some fresh Vpower - or did you manage this on the first run out?
I would also look to check fuel lines for moisture and airbox for nesting rodents!

Hahaha last time I drove a car hard that sounded like this the conrod made a sharp exit through the block.
It really doesnt sound good.
$hit happens, it will be what will be, just need to get it in and get it sorted. :smokin: doesnt take away anything from the car, still think its ace.
If all else fails then I'll make the trip in the S8.

Was running with fuel light on prior to the fill up of fresh V-Power. Car done about 3 miles before all hell broke loose :bigcry: :hahaha:

No Brett started before the fill up.
Will just see what BM say. Its in mid 70K miles now so prime mileage for anything to give up.

Might just be something simple yet Paul.
My money on coil pack. I had an M3 in tuther week and it did not throw engine light on, but was missing and took miles/time running to eventually put light on.
I checked comps and all sweet as a nut. Nice cheap easy fix. Hopefully yours is too.

No mate,
Heard nothing back yet so unsure if that is good or bad.
As long as it's back before May though all should be good

:bigcry: Still hope it something not too serious. Can't imagine it being the VANOS mate. VANOS went on mine about 4 years ago, maybe more and it was t sound lumpy or anything like it really. More rattly at the front of the engine that anything else, wee bit drop in power at the top end.
Keep us posted and hopefully you should get her back before may.
I've only got 12 days after getting home to leaving for Europe to get like taxed, new brake pads fitted and bedded in and a decent run so I'm cutting it fine and really hoping she's in good health.

Pretty standard for E46. 4-5 is typically the one to go first. Can't think why? Maybe something to do with casting thickness on these blocks?

Really liking the look of that 320d touring that was out (blue M sport one) so might chop the missus 06 plate in for something like that later this year.
