 Mine are not damaged but need to get their shine back. Few years ago I re-lacker them ( four leyers each, out of a rattle can ) but that didn't last very long and they are stone chipped to buggery :banghead:
Do you apply clear resin as well as lacker when U refurbish them Mark ?

Mark CSL
05-04-2013, 12:14 AM
Yes they get rubbed back them a coat of resin then clear coat applied with a spray gun 2 pack :supz:

Down to only one pair left, from the five originally listed, no wonder we can't get hold of them - if these are indeed genuine.
Strange, all 3 images are of the front face and non of the reverse, where the Part No. label and fixings are/should be - something to hide?

Black shoe polish works well on chipped carbon (F1 showcar insiders tip!), but better to get them refurbed properly then cover them in 3M heli tape to avoid any more stone chips.

I need to get some 3M Heli tape I think

Matt, I repaired a set a little while back and put Heli tape on them straight after. Been on for 2 months now, and not a single stone chip, works really well. I nabbed it from work, but I think I used the same stuff as in your link. Only down side is that they are not as shinny as bare laquer, but polishes up ok after a wash.

I completly covered them, wrapping over the leading edge. This requires some handy work with a soap spray bottle and a heat gun as the curvature is too great for the heli tape in some parts. 150mm is only just enough height-wise to do this, so if you found some, say 175-200mm high, it might be easier to apply, as you'd have a bit of overhang to grip on to. Alternativly leave the leading edge bare and it will be dead easy to apply. I didn't want a line showing though.

I'll try to get some photos up (don't have cecil at the moment).
