View Full Version : Back to the fold, anyone know this car thread...
Evening Gents.
Well, those of you who have sold a csl know how this story will pan out...
Yes it's a one of those "I want a csl back in my life" threads! :banghead:
My old steed was sold a little while back and after a short spell in something else, long story but will tell you over a pint if anyones interested :-D, I really fancy getting back behind the wheel.
To be honest my old car was a bit of a garage queen, so ideally would like one I can use this time without worrying about mileage, stone chips and parking it in car parks! Don't get me wrong the car will be looked after and maintained I just want to be able to use the bloody thing!!!
So will be browsing the classifieds for one and hopefully will be back behind the wheel of one soon and of course if anyone is selling please let me know, mileage is irrelevant, as I said looking for one to keep for a while and thrash, I mean use :-D so will probably be looking at the lower end of the scale.
Unfortunately, (for me!) as with all good things, I see prices have moved upwards since I sold, but have seen this car for sale and wondered if anyone had any info on it. I believe it's been for sale for quite a while so maybe a deal to be had?

Sorry for the long winded thread but any comments would be most appreciated

Hi there
In my quest I discounted this one, not that I had viewed it, but more for the mileage.
I now know that cars should be bought on condition / history rather than mileage, so:
- view and look at service history MOT's etc - do they tie up?
- mileage sometimes has benefits, what parts have been changed and how long ago?
Finally, mileage is going to restrict what sort of warranty (or safety net) you can deploy to soften the blows, so condition is going to mean everything for this particular vehicle.
If it was me, I would view it to see how it felt (condition and gut feeling) and then take 2 breaths and think again.
For me (and I don't know this car) I would want to wait for a less leggy example to come along.
But view it, and if it feels right (taking facts into account) then go for it - and haggle hard!

I've had a look round this car as its not to far from me it's not the nicest it looks quite tired and had rust on the front arches and on one off the rears.
Thanks for the response Gents. To be honest would only entertain if the car was ship shape, but as you mentioned Deano it all needs to stack up and at 23k I think it is overpriced, but there could be a deal to be had as its been for sale so long.
Cslspurs thanks for the heads up, did you drive the car, make any more enquiries?
I considered this car a few months (!) ago but didn't get round to viewing it so interested to hear about the general tiredness of it. There's got to be a couple of grand to haggle off of it in that case. It's costing the seller money still sat there after all these months. If it drives tight & the engine runs and sounds sweet then IN THEORY it shouldn't be over looked, the FBMWSH should show it's had a good service history....... No harm in viewing and making a cheeky offer :-D
Quick update, I have viewed the car and at £23k the dealer is certainly optimistic.
Made a cheeky offer and let's say the first number was a 1 as it certainly needs some TLC to bring her back to glory. Rather than me bash the car on here, if anybody wants any specific details please pm me.
Back to the classifieds...
Happy Easter!

Are you back in a CSL then?
Are you back in a CSL then?
Yep, deal done today and picking her up in two weeks!
Small world but it is actually this car http://www.cslregister.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8207
New owner traded the CSL in for a Merc AMG Black series :119: only had it a short while.
Pretty chuffed, haggled hard and got a good deal. Car has been looked after by Murketts since new, has had the subframe replaced last year, new clutch, AP's all round, ac schnitzer exhaust (which I will probably take off) and Milltek centre pipe and a re-trimmed steering wheel... Happy days
In fairness dealer was spot on, let me have the car up on a ramp and is sorting out a few niggles for the price agreed and was an all round nice guy and petrol head. Even got a warranty...
And the best part is the mileage is actually 111k, woohoo :supz:
Now all I have to do is tell the wife :(
Anyone want to buy my other toy, my v8 landrover defender...

All I can say was it was nowhere near 23k  but happy with the deal and the dealer turned out to be a really nice chap.
Well done, great to see the car is finally in good hands after sitting round for months. A bit of tlc and you wont lose money in it
