Bearing in mind I'm used to touring europe etc in a 40 year old car whcih means I tend to carry a full tool kit and lots of spares ....
so with the CSL, are there any specific spares I should carry in the car ? Not always just the ones I can fit myself, but those that are useful if you get towed to the nearest garage etc and so you don't have to wait for parts to arrive.
I've read about the salmon relay ... although not sure what part number it is or what it does. Anything else worth carrying , eg fan belt, fuses, bulbs ?
For touring, think I'd like to carry either a space saver ( already found details of what to order ) or maybe one of these kits ( not sure if they work ) :

Also a small tool kit incl pliers & wheel brace & scissor jack.

Don't suppose anyone knows the part number for the salmon relay and the ignition coils ?

not wanting to be a burden on the tour i'm taking every precaution
2 spare wheels front and rear with fresh cups
axle stand/trolley jack
castrol/wheel brace/torque wrench
hadn't considered coils/relay but will look into it:119:

Apart from wheels and tyres and jack for track day, most of us will be glad Gareth is with us

i tend to tAke a boot full of shit, after various things going wrong over the years.
Most common and useful things however are a
spare rim with tyre fitted (as punctures or tyre/rim damage very common) and new pads (always seem to be nicking someones pads at lunchtime).

Based on common CSL faults and consumables you should take the following:
Coil packs
Pads
RTAB
Clutch
Flywheel
Diff
Gearbox
Head Gasket
Boot Floor

Dunno mate, mega busy at the moment and poor! Would like to as it'd be a laugh but gets expensive to stick it in a truck for that many miles. More likely to come along with someone else I think.

+ 1. Although I did have a rear spring snap coming back on the M20 in my 911 once. It sounded like a gun went off in the back of the car.

Surely as it is a group effort not everyone needs to take everything. As long as a few people have spare jack, axle stands, relays, brake pads, coils, wiper blades, wheel front/rear, bulbs (compulsory I know but hey).
Come on Shimmy impose your will, dominate the untermensch :-D .
Hopefully it will go without event. I hope to see an interesting write up and some good photographs.

I think people should be free to carry what they want and not be dominated by a faceles internet clown telling them what to do. (me that is.....Trawler will like that!)
:-D
I'd like to take nothing extra but I'm too scared!

The more you take the less you'll need, that's what I find. I always have a salmon relay and a coil in my boot at all times.... just incase.
