my da has mercs and he says they have a 30 year guarantee, or something crazy like that. He has just has a 7 year old car fully painted (three weeks work) under warranty because of rust bubbles here and there.

I have heard of this.

I know people who have had full resprays under warranty. :-D

Suspect this damage has started in the factory when built, or it's a sacrificial corrosion caused by the dissimilar metal of the door catch material. Defo a warranty job would have thought, hardly wear and tear or neglect. I hope they make a good job of blending in the repair to the rest of the paint!

Will check mine the night!! Thanx for the info'.

You should start a CSL warranty consultancy, whenever someones CSL warranty is about to expire you get Mark round to point out all the bits needing sorted! :notworthy: :notworthy:

You could officially become BMWs most hated man!!

I am that man lol
But what causes this is the plastic cover holds dirt then water.
after i get it painted and yes it will have to be spot on i shall put grease
on it before i put the plastic cover back on

I had mine done aswell on the drivers side , it was only one small speck ,but thought it might aswell be done, seeing as they wouldn't replace my wheels or clutch !!

OK, so it's a bit of a thread resurrection... just had both of mine done under warranty (at last - a warranty claim finally gets honoured  after my disappointments with "named components" cover).

I guess people with 2003 registered cars may now be out of luck on this as it's well past the 6 year mark.
